When I was at Al's Brother Tom's house for Thanksgiving yesterday, I came upon this log that was cut from a fallen tree. I realized that I had about 20 minutes before dinner would be served and I happened to have a 1/4" chisel in my pocket that I forgot to put away, so... It just happened to fit on this metal stand that they had.4 points

Prepping my contributions to the enormous Bedecarre clan Thanksgiving dinner. First is Texas Trash (Chex mix). Second is my best dish, and a holiday tradition in my family. My homemade macaroni and cheese. Guaranteed to clog at least one artery. 4.5 lbs. Cheese (Tillamook cheddar and pepper jack) 1 qt. heavy cream, 1 qt. sour cream, 1 lb. bacon (crumbled) and 2 lbs. macaroni. Third is a recipe I've not made before. An internet find. Roasted Brussel Sprouts with browned buttered hazelnuts and pickled shallots.2 points

What does "Melt Away" taste of, anyway? I have a feeling they are probably banned in the EU for a variety of reasons.1 point

Back in Ohio this week and of all the wonderful food to be thankful for today, mashed potatoes and turkey are behind the return of Dan Dee’s Cheddar Cheese Flavored Corn Twistees. They ran regionally (Midwest) from 1928-2018 and I ate approximately 614 tons of the stuff as a kid. Not only did they return this year, but they appear to have a copy cat using even the same clip art. Although I like Pirate’s Booty, there really is nothing else like them. You can tell from these online reviews. "Dan Dee products have been part of my upbringing in Cleveland forever. They also taste superior. I am deeply disappointed to lose this cultural treasure. "The end of a Cleveland legend.” "These were the snack foods you found in ancient vending machines in decrepit auto shops when your car broke down in the middle of nowheresville. You ate maybe two before realizing you'd get more flavor from the dirt on the floor." Warning: Orange.1 point

It doesn't get much handier in size than the Pico Power -- those are 1/8" jacks on the front. Funny you should mention the DT880 -- I use my Pico Power with the DT1770. Also, it comes in purple.1 point

You're not going to find me in line for Bourbon County...Finding some Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream for the first time in ages today is a big enough score for me... Cheers...1 point

I wouldn't worry too much about extraction times that are under a minute. The main reason for the 30 second rule is for speed making drinks for a cafe. Worry more about how it tastes.1 point

I can control temperature (by purging the steamer), pre-infusion (how long I let it fill), delay (how long I hold the lever before letting the spring work), and time (how long til I swap the cup for the dump pitcher) on my machine. Steam I control completely tho, and the machine has amazing steam. I honestly haven't noticed a difference with any tamp pressure as long as it's "enough".1 point
