Some of the best relationship/life advice I've gotten has come from gay men.

Happy 17th Anniversary to us! To paraphrase one of my favorite patient statements when I asked how long he'd been married: '14 happy years of marriage, and 3 ... not so great.' No particular plans today, but we'll have a weekend getaway in the long weekend in October.

Ha. The compost IS the good stuff wouldn't you agree?! But there's a nice piece of tilapia under the compost, as well.

Streaming player (Sony Walkman) vs. iPhone 6 for Tidal
jvlgato replied to hausera's topic in Portable Audio
If you're going to use Tidal HiFi on a Walkman, it'd be worth it to invest in a box of metal bias casettes. Get a well known, high quality brand, like Maxwell. Much better sound, especially in the highs and the dynamic range; as Tidal HiFi is CD quality resolution, you're certain to hear the difference. Oh, and be sure to have the Doubly turned on. Tape hiss is almost inaudible that way. -
HQPlayer? Hmmm ... I have some reading to do ...

Yes, I was doing Roon/Amarra for Tidal>Mac mini via USB>PS Audio PWD. Yeah, I don't completely understand why there's even a difference at all with any of software client. I get why a DAC would make a difference, but only sort of get why the software client would. Don't really know. I like Roon a lot, except for the crazy price. IIRC, they use Meridian's audio engine? I thought it sounded very good, and in one night, rediscovered a bunch of music both in Tidal and in my NAS collection. Still, because of the price, I actually had planned on doing the trial then cancelling before being charged. Silly me, I forgot to cancel and then saw the charge come through while I was on vacation. Can't say I was very upset, though. I was actually kind of glad! I think I know what Freud would say about that... [emoji12]

Yes! I've found both Amarra for Tidal and Roon to sound much better! But the Amarra interface was a bit slower and more awkward to use, while Roon was fantastic all the way around.
