Ipod Touch / Iphone
I find it interesting that tether.com promotes "one-time fee" as a feature, but tether.com/iphone lists a yearly fee of $30. A subscription fee doesn't seem right for a program that doesn't interface with a service.

Saw stop would love to see it on every saw made, especially since their licensing terms ask for 8% of each sale: the CPSC also mentioned they won't write the regulation to be specific to one protection method, assuming it does pass:

I like how it looks, but if it's milled from a solid piece of aluminum doesn't that mean it's one giant heatsink? Sounds like it'd be good at warming up cold drinks and cooling hot drinks

But he swore it was perfectly safe! He had a professional with 20yrs of experience ready and waiting to look over his work! I thought it was a nice touch when he cursed at people that were warning him about the safety implications.

Then you may like this video, which happens to include more slo-mo jogging in NY The man in the center is Genki Sudo who is quite the interesting person. He's a retired UFC fighter, essayist, musician, actor, dancer, and choreographer all-in-one.

Battlefield 3
I've never played any of the battlefield series before but I'm willing to give this one a try. Hopefully the experience isn't too brutal for a newbie

Lefsetz writes about Senn HD 800s
I think I posted that after reading the whole thing looking for the writer's opinion on the sonic character of the HD800 and only coming with away with the impression that the HD800 makes everything sound better©. oh wait, I just posted something as well!

Lefsetz writes about Senn HD 800s
Is it just me or did the entire review boil down to different statements of "music sounded worse before, but now it sounds so much better!"? How do people write so much, yet say so little?

Most repayable games?
Recently finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I'm itching to go through again. I got through the first time using a mix of stealth and straight up firefighting, but I'm thinking of doing a full stealth run. It's quite a fun game

Amazon Kindle
Definitely non-ads if it's a gift; perhaps get a nice oberon case to go with it while you're at it?
-
Amazon Kindle
From what I've heard the ads aren't annoying, but if they do end up a bother you have 30 days to return it (minus shipping). That's what I think as well

I think there's a few widgets that are trying to get the disable 4G capability working, but I haven't really seen any =/ On a more positive note, your friend shouldn't need to turn off 4G as the phone has quite a decent battery life completely stock. If it's still rather new and has only gone through a few charge cycles, I would highly recommend calibrating the battery meter by following these steps: http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=765656 The OS learns the battery capacity over time, but until it gets the capacity right the phone will often times report that it's out of battery when it's not. This functionality is the reason you'll sometimes here people say their phones have gotten better battery life after a few charge cycles. It's not the battery changing, it's the OS adjusting the battery meter. Following these steps effectively shortcuts the "learning process". If your friend values battery life, I recommend picking up the HTC Evo 3d battery for $30 since it's compatible with the HTC Sensation and has a larger capacity (1730mAh vs 1520mAh stock). I've also gone ahead and rooted my phone and loaded a custom rom; after doing all of the above I've netted a significant increase in battery life (rooting the phone also improved the general performance feel of the phone, which I didn't expect, to be honest)

Just picked up the HTC Sensation. It's a nice and fast phone, especially coming from the Mytouch 3g.

FiiO E7 DAC Held Captive & Tortured
I tried to read the article, but after three screens worth of essentially self-praise I gave up. I am curious to hear what other designers think of it, though I doubt AMB will offer input...heh.

If you want to be extra paranoid you can enable google's two factor authentication as long as you have an android/blackberry/iOS device. Kinda like the RSA key fob's that generate a code that you enter in (though RSA isn't that great of an example for the moment).
