  2. In case others need an incentive... Walter Isaacson's 656-page profile of Steve Jobs "is quite possibly the truest biography I've ever read." http://ow.ly/1zih61
  3. Raffy, you're a Liberal! And I pledge to raise to the occasion gang. Better Vermouth it is.
  4. I know, I know Al and Shelly. The Bitters (Angostura & Peychauds) are about as lame. Must venture outside house. Beautiful Moloko bottle there Raffy.
  5. A few ways to answer that, but "a limited selection", "ratios to taste" and "working from home" are three.
  6. Per earlier recommendations alternating between Wild Turkey/Martini Manhattanishs and Wild Turkey/Noilly Prat Manhattanishs,

For the record the Wilco trio shipped a couple weeks after order as did The Strokes set (which I'm not sure why I bought). It's just they set expectations of 1-2 days, which has continued to cause JHA-style complaints. Waits listed 11/7 and this 11/9. Lets see if they hit those targets, though they would be inline with what I've experienced so far.

This Pop Market thing is starting to seem not very friendly towards my paycheck.
  10. Evidently. They are very well behaved.
  11. Funny thing is the iBook eBook had a bunch of formatting issues. Email reportedly went out this morning requesting readers to redownload. So maybe you made the right choice. I'm a traitor. Kindle eBook here. Have to admit besides interest in Jobs and Apple, fun to be reading about houses and garages blocks away from my relatively new residence.
  12. Hey, someone needs to be setup to replace Jobs! And you're not the only one that seems suspect of my 1 out of 4 recent books choice. She hasn't said anything out loud yet though. Okin's Justice, Gender, and the Family up next. With a daughter on the way my minuscule feminist reading history needs to be corrected.
  13. This thread sucks.

The Waits set at least had a future specific date, not "1 or 2 days". Maybe they're getting better. BTW if anyone needs a $640 single sphere ice press for their Manhattans, Fab has some on sale. http://fab.com/sale/1537/

  22. Nice 009 shot. Also great framing on the Grand Central shots. And Peter as always... Guys any words of wisdom if looking for an inexpensive Nikon 40, 50 or 60mm fixed general lens? Was going to pick up another 50mm f/1.8D (which was lost on last shoot), then of course the 50mm f/1.8G came up in comparisons, and now wondering of occasional macro use with 40mm f/2.8G. This is for mostly portrait stuff on a D70. Kid on the way and all that. Have a zoom, but prefer fixed most of the time.

Tom Waits vinyl deal over at Pop Market. BAD AS ME is Tom Waits’ first studio album of all new music in seven years. This pivotal work refines the music that has come before and signals a new direction. Waits, in possibly the finest voice of his career and at the height of his songwriting powers, worked with a veteran team of gifted musicians and longtime co-writer/producer Kathleen Brennan. Pressed on 180 gram black vinyl, includes bonus CD and 12-page book of lyrics & photos. MULE VARIATIONS: Not much else can be said about this Grammy-winning album from 1999 other than this is Tom Waits at his best and offers the most complete picture of Tom Waits of any of his albums. Edgy stomps, humor and experimentation are interspersed with some of the most beautiful and personal songs he’s ever written. NIGHTHAWKS AT THE DINER is a 1975 double album that was recorded live in Record Plant Studios, in front of a small invited audience. This gives the record an intimate feeling as Waits spends time telling stories, jokes and explaining the stories behind his songs through seven separate introductions.
