Incredible story, Wayne! I bet Jim would have given up all the money to have her longer.....

Love this thread, brings back a lot of memories of songs I haven't heard for a while. Agree with Dusty on bands like the Dickies: Banana Splits theme (used in one of the best scenes in Kick-Ass), Nights In White Sating, Paranoid....all great and fun covers. Husker Du does two that I love as well: Love Is All Around (Mary Tyler Moore theme) and Eight Miles High. The Jam did the batman theme on their first album..... And I just remembered the Flying Lizards and their "interpretive" covers (Money, Tutti Frutti....) One of my favorite covers, simple but fun, was one where I didn't know the original. A NYC band, The Lost Patrol, doing a song called "Jukebox On The Moon." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sr5E8zA1Cu8

Man, tough times CJ. Also glad you're apparently getting better, hope the fever has broken completely. I went through a similar situation. Dating a Chinese woman, her parents were 1st generation in US, though Vivian was born here (North Carolina, went to college and moved permanently to Boston area). She never told her parents about dating a White man, and one day I found out she tried. She was crying non-stop, saying they threatened to disown her. Days turned to weeks, and her mother decided to fly up to visit and meet me. There was prepping to be done, a gift to be bought, and behavior to be practiced. Met at her apartment, talked for about an hour, went out for Chinese food (her mom ordered, and in Mandarin asked the waitress for fortune cookies because "you know how the white people like them"). At then end of the night she gave me a small gift, a hanging window-type thing for good luck. Later the next day I got a call, and I could HEAR Vivian's ear-to-ear smile. "You passed," she said. "Her last words about us were 'I don't know what your father will think.' But that means she accepts you....and so will my father." I never got top meet her father, we DID end up breaking up in time. But she is now married to a nice man (White) and has two lovely kids. Very happy to be the one to help her and her parents get over a bias that threatened the family relationships. I only hope that your family can get through that as well.

Bruins rule when there's hate involved. I think Chicago actually has an advantage in that aspect, they're a team that I could love if it weren't for the Bruins. Combine that with the talent offensively, defensively, and in goal, and it's going to be very tight. I believe in the Bruins, but respect the hell out of the Hawks. Now back to our regularly scheduled gloating..... Good Dog!

Yes, I'd worry about longer-term effects.....please take care!

Nice to see the Hawks get a win, first home loss for LA. I decided not to watch, really needed the sleep..... Wearing my Bergeron Pro shirt today to work, hope the B's can sweep the Penguins tonight. Funny GIF posted on another site:

Not asleep, wired but with a headache at this point....ANOTHER night of < 5 hours sleep to come! Fuck I love hockey!!

Annoying to the point where I need to NOT watch late games! 4-5 hours of fucking sleep the last 3 nights! Stupid me.....hockey fan.

So much fun reading the reactions, fans and media. Boston fans are getting a bit annoyed that it's STILL all about the Penguins and Crosby, even though they were soundly beaten. Barry melrose FINALLY gave the Bruins some credit for their play, instead of making it sound like the only reason they won was because Pitsburgh didn't play well. And funny tweet/article:

Just saw that, too....RIP big man.

I've always kind of liked insanity!! Show 'em the asylum, Bruins!

Happy Belated, hope it was great!

Matt Cooke gets a reputation call, though it was bad. Honestly surprised Marchand didn't get 5 and game too, even though it wasn't as bad as Cooke's. Crosby showing some of his bitch streak; SO much talent but such an a-hole at times.... Looking forward to the next one! Liked the Chicago game as well.....

Very Happy Birthday Miguel!

Turntables are now using the ANALOG512 Synchronius Cross-Undersampling EZ-Bake-Oven Uncontrolled Plutonium Clock technology, make sure you have the latest!

Don't hold any special love or hate for either team, but it would have been nice to see the "underdog" Wings win it. And indeed, a great series overall. The after-game handshake looked like the classiest I've EVER seen, tons of apparent respect between the teams. Now the 4 remaining teams are the last 4 winners of the Stanley Cup....

Trying out USB cables for my laptop to DAC. Actually surprised at variation in sound! Settling with a Moon Audio Blue Dragon won @ the NY Spring Meet auction. Pretty darn nice. Once I saw these, just had to listen to the full albums. Not sure if this guy is a genius or truly the product of an asylum. But pretty fun stuff.

Raised a glass today, too....big thanks to all who serve and have served.....

Crap, sorry to hear it Nate! Hope it passes quickly and easily enough.....

Yes, great game! Hoping San Jose can pull it off too....

^^ Don't have any fingernails left......hats off to Rangers, they are playing much better the last couple games. Weird to think that powerplays are making such a difference in this game....3rd period may have nothing called unless there's a decapitation!

I think you're right, Steve. Rational thinking is slowly making its way through. Not as fast as many would like, but as you say: small steps. -
Went on a Harbor Cruise as part of a work award for a project I was on. Saw the same two ships in Nate's pics. Got to meet some fine and fun folks from Colombia who we supported on this project.....
