A bit late in the eve, but just saw today is Mr.-Neko-Audio's birthday! Happy Birthday Wes! Wishing a great day and year. Think I'll celebrate by listening to something through your DAC

Already replied on the other site, but I'm going to try my damned best to be there. Just found out my wife is travelling the following week (leaving Sunday), but hoping that won't put a dent in plans.... Not sure yet what I'll bring for equipment, but I'll certainly bring some drinking goodness!

Well, just found out this morning....the Bone Marrow Drive my son and friend helped run yielded yet ANOTHER match!!!!! Hopefully will help/save the life of a 22-year old fighting Leukemia. I can't believe the odds, we signed up just under 100 people to the registry, and achieving two matches is amazing.

M-80 Ramblings (for the sake of a hitching post)

Dang, that was a weird read, not sure I'm glad I caught it before edit. But at least there was a mention of Sex Bomb by Flipper.....is liking them hipster now? -
Yes, that'll settle a 3-year old's stomach, good idea..... Oh....wait.......

Yeah, leaning to the vinyl as well. And yes, if it sounds like Loveless, well that's just lovely!

Nice, offering 24/96 downloads.....

Yeah, but remember that Dinny Disease you DON'T have.....?

That could be it Shelly.... Regarding donating, I learned some interesting info from helping run two drives with my son. ~80% of the time, marrow itself is not needed. The process is something akin to a very light version of dialysis. Maybe a week ahead of collection, you get injection(s) to help stimulate white blood cell production. Then you go in, have blood removed from one arm, flows through a collector of some sort that catches the parts desired; then the blood flows back into the other arm. One of my son's drives resulted in a match, we were very excited and proud! PS - congrats - again - to you and your student!

Big congrats Jacob and Emily! Nice to have less stress in life! And Shelly, odd on the Bone Marrow non-registration. Maybe some online info will help explain why....

We have someone I work with now named Sham Rao, pronounced like you might suspect. And the above made me remember once when I worked at a hotel/concert club, the owner was supposedly a Greek mob man name Mr. Ricolitis. A vendor once came and asked for Mr. Colitis, and we assured him that he REALLY wanted to get the name right (the owner was not well known for his sense of humor).

Ticketmaster charges some ugly fees at times, box office may be best to get at face value. Sometimes a local Craigslist ad or maybe a local sports/hockey online forum will even get a season ticket holder to sell. There's also stubhub.com, basically legalized scalping; usually good only if games are sold out.....

In the midst of the odd names, this is fucking fantastic!

Nice! I used to work at an Israeli company. Best 2 names I've ever heard were there. One was the head of HR at the parent company: Nimrod Zipper Another was a Service Engineer working in the US: Uzi Israel Both happened to be very very nice guys.....

Great stuff, congrats to both of you!

OK, hooked up the Mjolnir again last night, did some listening then and again tonight. System: Panny DVD player --> PS Audio NuWave --> Mjolnir --> either Senn 580's with Zu balanced cables or AKG K702 rewired with balanced Mogami Comparison system (yes, apples to oranges): Another Panny DVD --> Micromega MyDAC --> Marantz 1090 integrated --> Spritzer-built Lundahl Transformer Box --> Lambda Pro's So all the stuff I said about the NuWave in that source thread stays true: space, detail, a bit warm (Carl called it slightly dark, I could potentially agree: some warmth combined with large space sounds a bit dark). But even with the warmth of the NuWave, the Mjolnir sounded a bit forward with the AKG's. It extracted some very good bass out of them, but I noticed some very slight glare in Karen Carpenter's voice (Carpenters Gold, XRCD). Switching to the Senn 580's lessened that glare a lot, but at the expense of some loss of detail. I'm looking forward to getting the Senn 600's from Nate to try them, and might even have to get the 650's again. Again, just a very brief listen, on this CD and also using Coil - Stolen and Contaminated Songs (freaky shit). But my short impressions are that this amp will be detailed, energetic but fairly smooth, and pass on many of the traits of the source in front of it. I've never heard the LCD-3's, so can't comment on potential matches; but I've heard the LCD-2 latest rev driven by the Bryston headphone amp, and I think it would sound a bit similar. Maybe the Mjolnir a bit less brash. FWIW, I liked the LCD-2 and Bryston combo a fair bit. Now....all that said...... I listened to the same 2 CD's on the other system, and fuck if it was just more musical and fun! Even with that cheap Micromega MyDAC, driving through a vintage amp and a transformer-based Stax driver....when Karen Carpenter sang to me, she was so smooth she was licking my ears! Not the last word for spaciousness, but lovely mids for those vocals, and still fun & dynamic. I remember why I love the Lamda's so much. I know the Micromega has been getting FOTM treatment in some places, but this could be something that almost lives up to the hype. For less then $400 it's got REALLY well-balanced sound. Is it as smooth and spacious and yet detailed as the NuWave? No....but it ranks high on the fun factor, and even does hi-fi pretty darn well. Sorry for stealing a bit of Mjolnir time in the post, but had to call that out.

Yeah, good to see that, I did always like him, even though on other teams. I'll be getting tickets for the Caps game March 16th in Boston, will have the jersey ready oops I mean

Hopefully it's OK Shelly.....worst case, contact PS Audio, they may be pretty accommodating.....or maybe someone here can take a look, too.

Only saw the first period, did Ovechkin finally get going or was it just a lucky PP goal? Sabres without Vanek = fail And Montreal without Max Pac for a while, that's too bad for them.....

39 years is awesome, big congrats! Any special plans for 40?

I have it, but haven't had time to really listen, it's not hooked up at this moment (still listening to my Stax). Initial listen with the NuWave DAC and balanced Senn 580's showed real good promise, though, the music had me toe-tapping some. Detail, dynamics, some space, but not a big loss in musicality seemed to be the norm. Recently just picked up a balanced AKG 701, it's able to eek out some decent bass from them. But something didn't seem quite exactly right to me with that match, need to listen more. But due to room work, the whole system is offline at the moment. Hope to have it hooked up again next weekend.....

Rangers played a better game Wednesday against the Bruins, though they shouldn't have allowed the Bruins to get a point out of it. A healthy Gaborik, and that first line (Richards, Nash, Gaborik) is fucking awesome!!!! Haven't watched any Caps highlights, doesn't sound like they are doing well. Any thoughts on the issues?

Happy Belated Adrian! Hope it was a really good day.

Indeed, what has been said. Hope this resolves longer-term issues, Al. And I'm sure having some extra $ in the bank account each month will allow you to get over the anti-climactic feeling Vicki.
