Should I give up on the K1000?
The K-1000s are my favorite headphone. I prefer them to all the top tier phones including the R10s, Qualias and HE-90s (haven't heard the LCD-2 yet). They are the closest thing to an uncolored stethoscope to the recording and system for better or worse. So, you should hear the K-1000s with a proper amp before making any hasty decisions. Like swt61, I feel they cover all music well if they do it for you. However, if the O2s bring you to bliss instead and you're looking for something as a secondary or different flavor, why not sell the K1ks+amp and go for the R10s. Don't bother with the Qualias unless you have tough ears IMO. Bliss + R10 is not the worst way to live.

I used the Dyna 20x for several months before I mashed it like an idiot one night, but it turned out to be a good thing. It forced me to upgraded to the Karat 17D2. The Dyna Karat is the polar opposite of the 20X which was more lush and kind of veiled. The Karat is all about speed, detail and dynamics. When my 17D2 wore out I figured I'd change it up and go with something else. After several auditions with various carts, that didn't happen. I ended up with the 17D3. Just wanted to put it back on your radar YMMV (link)- What are you listening to Part the Third

Thanks for helping resolve that one for me. Now to heed that good advice: Mozart - Mass in C minor- What are you listening to Part the Third
I actually meant to put a question mark at the end. Not going to try and defend my boneheaded statement. I was trying to take a guess at why Hahn is controversial. ASR said that she seemed to "inject extra notes for flair". Knowing that there is a thin line between ornamentation and exess and that Bach broke with convention by writing out ornamentations allowing less room for the musician to elaborate (at least without criticism) than compared to vivaldi or handel for example, I drew the assumption (probably false) that the purists might take issue if Hahn used essesive ornamentation and expression. I guess I'm just not understanding why her interpretations are controversial?- What are you listening to Part the Third
I agree with the Podgers Rec. I read or heard somewhere that Hahn is controversial for her coloring. Bach wrote out every note including trills. So, adding ornamentation to one of the greatest composer's pieces might come off as arrogant to some. I'm going to to have to check out Fischer.- What are you listening to Part the Third
