Mahler actually transposed DATM for orchestra around the turn of the century. It was criticized for lacking in intimacy, so he cancelled performance plans with it...after his death, his wife found it, released it in 1984. It works on some levels for DATM. The orchestra/double basses mainly add to the driving intensity of the music. I prefer the quartet by a good margin. I still enjoy this version for what it is though. American - not sure who transcribed this one. This type of song suffers with this arrangement. It just sounds over saturated. I do like American just not this version.

I bought the Captivate a few weeks ago, and I took it back for the IP4 after exhaustive use/thought and review reading. I have to say that they are both good options (best 2 ATT phones), and I can't say the Droid is bad or inferior at all. In the end, the Retina display is easier on these 40 year old eyes. While the Captivates super AMOLED screen with 1/2" more real estate is much more exciting to look at, the amazing contrast actually makes it hard to look at for too long. Wow vs practical. iOS is still better but Droid is coming up fast. Overall, Apple's refinement and polish physically and digitally is still untouched. I'm good for 2 years.

I bought this CD years ago, because it was a test disk that someone at Stereophile used in his reviews. It's not bad. Ry Cooder is on there, and Terry is convincing (grew up near the delta, Robert Johnson, etc.). On the down side, there is a '70s soul vibe to it which I personally don't like. Can't say I'd recommend it unless your into that.
