Asr I assume you didn't hear the Kimber/Pass Labs/Sound Lab electrostatic setup? This is what it looks like (pic from enjoythemusic), hard to miss

I had to break down my setup, so it has been down these last two weeks. Listening to just digital in the in term isn't so bad. The new Audiogon listing fees are really lame \ I have no idea. But I'm always suspicious of PS Audio gear.

I believe that is a CEC belt drive CD transport. Yeah their upgrade path is very nice. I don't think I would be able to go further than a Serac/Artisan Audio tonearm at the moment.

It is interesting that so many vendors are using computers as their source. I agree :drool:

Naaman I'd love to get on the HE 1.2b loaner as well. I'm not in a hurry to replace my DAC so I don't mind waiting a while for the Buffalo. You can put postjack in front of me.

Isn't the cable entry independent of the rotating pads? The pads and the cable entry/metal rings rotate separately? The seam is angled slightly towards my temple and the cable entry still comes out at an angle similar to most headphones; almost straight down.

Laine- I believe user "yikes" had or still has one. He hasn't posted here in a while, but I've seen him post in Headfi's high end forum recently. Maybe send him a message. I've heard his player a few times, but can't comment since it wasn't in my system.

IMO they should change the name of the drive, reminds me too much of the notorious IBM Deskstar (aka Deathstar).

So the RS-1 that I've had for a couple of weeks are definitely the best John Grado headphones in my experience. This is with flat pads. But they still aren't as resolving as the Koss ESP/950 and not even close to the SR-007 mk1.

If you're into analog check out Galibier's setup. I wish I could have made it out there!
