6. jp get the Impulse! 45 rpm of A Love Supreme. One of my favorite albums and it it sounds killer on 45 rpm, really one of my favorite reissues with the thick gatefold, not the usual crap from AP
7. Walton Facade for ballet Classic Records vinyl. Lovely!
8. Damning with faint praise
9. It has been some time since I've heard a 717, but I believe Birgir has said it was intended by Stax to have a pleasant sonic signature. The distortion I'm referring to with the pro box might be the transformers running out of steam and applying some "compression" (not sure if this is the correct word?) to make things sound more punchy. This is the way I perceive it and I'm quite sensitive to compression applied in music. The Blue Hawaii doesn't do this and can sound more plain in comparison.
10. I have a spritzer modded SRD7 turned pro as well. Fun little box and better than the regular SRD7-pro (without the dreadful stock Stax speaker wires), but doesn't even compare to the Blue Hawaii. This is with a SR-007 MK1. There is some pleasant distortion going on with the pro box, but the BH lays it flat out like it is.

15. Fungus in the AC/heating system? Car talk said that is a common cause of an "unknown odor that just won't go away"
16. No I don't think it is impossible to capture soundstage in studios. A lot of jazz is recorded with closed micing that can still image well. The difference is it is recorded live with all musicians in the same room, whereas most rock instruments are recorded separately, layered and mixed together. There are exceptions to both.

18. Jazz recorded properly in stereo (ie not mono elements hard panned) does image as well.
19. Darth Nut's review of the O2 made imaging and headstage fairly clear to me. The O2 do image well with non-binaural recordings. I have yet to hear a binaural classical recording that blew me away, usually they are only just as good or slightly worse than well miced recordings (ie Everest which are really good). The one's that are really impressive like hearing voices behind you or doors slam behind you are gimmicks Imaging doesn't exist with studio rock. Even on speakers you are only hearing the isolated differences in the mix, it's not really imaging.
20. I am just speaking from comparing my 1200 to a couple of really nice Garrards. I'd rather mod a SP-10 than go further with the 1200. The SP-10 MK2 has a considerably better motor and platter, whereas the 1200 has a low inertia system so DJs can quickly start and stop the platter with their hands.
21. Jebus is right, good god Vick 62 points!!!
