Mattresses
Well, that ended up being a lot less painful than I thought. I started the day thinking I was going to buy memory foam but I ended up hating them. I bought the Natural Mattress Stretch recommended. The latex just felt right immediately compared to the 7-8 different brands/types I tried. It was towards the reasonable end of what I had budgeted for too so that didn’t hurt either. Shout out to the tall man. I would never have heard of the company/brand if you hadn’t brought it up in this thread. I also decided to make the switch from queen to cal king. I’ve had a queen since I first started grad school 13 years ago and while that size is fine the extra foot of width in the Cal King will have plenty of space for a future Mrs. TMoney.

Mattresses
Bumping this thread. I'm going out mattress shopping today and found it very useful for ideas of stuff to try out. Thanks everyone. I've slept like crap for a month so I'm hoping a new mattress is part of the solution. Brands I'm looking to try today: Natural Mattress, Duxiana, Aireloom, King Koil, Tempur Pedic, Intellibed. Thankfully almost all of them have showrooms/retailers close to me in San Rafael.

Songs You Came Across On Some Streaming Service And Thought Your Head-Case Buds Might Enjoy Too. No Critical Endorsement Implied. Fuck Vevo etc.
Yes sir, that one. Looking for a full version and not someone just recording their TV during the end credits though!

If anyone can find the 🔥 Alice Smith cover they use for the end credits to Lovecraft County, let me know! In the meantime, the OG Nina Simone rendition is still money.

We are talking about Brent here. We'd probably be on the runway set to take off and he'd have forgot to put fuel in the plane or he'd retract the landing gear by accident before getting off the ground. Then he'd probably blame some one else. 🙃

I fired up flight simulator this morning. It is the first game in a long time where the visuals took my breath away. It needs some debugging and optimization, but it is a truly impressive technical achievement. I'm excited to dig in to it.

Lovecraft Country Ok, HBO. That first episode was pretty strong. I am interested! Watchmen was a nice surprise. I hope this one is too.

Keep your Wine in Line
^ what Greg said. The best way to learn about wine is to go out and try it. I know we are in the COVID days, but there is no substitute from wine tasting. In person, at the vineyard or winery is the best. It is worth even trying the cheap stuff to give yourself frame of reference. You honestly will not know what you like a priori, you have to go out and experience it. Price does matter. A lot of the price is directly tied to the production costs. More expensive wines do receive more TLC than cheaper ones, often a lot more. Whether the quality difference is worth paying for is something you can only say with experience. Get out there, try stuff, share tasting notes with us, you HC crew! Cheers!

Ye Macce Threade
The Big Sur public beta dropped today. There hasn't been a MacOS beta wanted to try more in years, but I don't dare install it on my work computer. I can't wait to hear what others think of it heading up to the public release. https://www.apple.com/macos/big-sur-preview/

Ye Macce Threade
I'm sure it would be a fine computer but I would advise anyone who asks for advice to wait to buy a mac this year until they start showing the ARM stuff. They've told people they are switching the entire lineup, so why buy something that won't get the A-Grade Dev Team supporting it in a few years?

RIP someone or another
What a joke to turn it over to the person they did. I am glad it is ending. No one was going to follow up Tyll, but they at least could have picked someone who wanted to keep the balance between objective measurements and subjective reviews that Tyll walked so expertly.
