  1. Tales of the City (1993) I am surprised how much I liked this. Great characters, great writing, and the city looks as amazing as it always does. Hard to believe PBS had the guts to air this in the early 90s.
  2. Loved his work. The scene of Dylan and Donovan playing to friends in the hotel room is one of my favorite documentary moments ever. Donovan wows the crowd with “To Sing for You” only to get completely blown out of the water by Dylan who follows with “Its All Over Now, Baby Blue.”
  3. I am reading it as well, and have recommended it to others. Some real good info for those of us who don't sleep nearly as well as we should. There is a lot to learn that isn't intuitive.
  4. Leave his father alone. Trust me.
  5. Some say the end is near. Some say we'll see Armageddon soon...
  6. Happy birthday, Todd!
  7. Oh yes. It is about time.
  8. The Killer Angels - Michael Shaara Wow. This was amazing. I'm not normally a fan of historical fiction but this is a hell of a book. The praise it gets and the reverence with which it is treated are totally deserved. If you have ever had any interest in military history, the civil war, or historical fiction this is an absolute must read.
  9. Happy birthday!
  10. Damn. RIP.
  11. Gen 2 CMoy?
  12. It has got Daniel Lanois, Rhiannon Giddens, Willie Nelson, D'Angelo, etc. etc. It is brilliant. No knowledge of the game required to enjoy.
  13. I am also a FLW fan except for when I have jury duty at the courtrooms at the Marin county civic center (which he designed). The courtrooms have no right angles anywhere. That triggers me.
  14. Underrated. She had some amazing hits.
  15. RIP, Justice Stevens. A decent man and a respectable jurist who decided cases with great care and humility. I don’t always agree with his jurisprudence, but I have great respect for him.
  16. The book was entertaining enough, the movie sucks. Late career Spielberg makes me sad.
  17. Tough life, but someone has to live it! Looks amazing! In town to see the tour?
  18. On school desegregation, busing, and Biden. This is an excellent/heart-breaking read. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/12/opinion/sunday/it-was-never-about-busing.html
  19. Stranger Things S3 Fun, charming, delightful… basically exactly what you’d expect after the first two seasons. Great new adds to the cast, though the series’ formula is starting to wear a little thin. I hope if they do bring it back it ends after a fourth season. Better to stay too short than stay too long.
  20. I finished the series over the holiday. What a fun ride that was! Rowling created a magnificent world, and I had a wonderful time in the 2-months I spent there while reading the books. I have a lot of respect for her in getting people exited to read books again.
  21. Happy birthday!
  22. Happy birthday, Mafia Don!
  23. Not a bad way to spend the 4th of July. Happy Independence Day, everyone!
  24. ^ on my list as well!
  25. A friend sent me this video this morning: What a blast from the past. I wish Jony well in his future endeavors. More fun old videos here: https://www.fastcompany.com/90370763/this-1999-apple-video-shows-jony-ive-in-the-process-of-becoming-jony-ive
