Wait, what? U2 used to occasionally open for themselves during the Joshua Tree tour under the guise of a fake country band called The Dalton Brothers. I know a lot of people think U2 are arrogant dickheads, but I think this is pretty damn sweet! Source: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/u2s-the-joshua-tree-10-things-you-didnt-know-w470808

I will some day tell my children about the convoy ambush at the great wall of cars. There were three vehicles in the convoy: a lead car, the target, and a trail car. The lead car and trail car had mini-guns and were loaded with mercenaries. The convoy had a helicopter gunship as escort. With lieutenant Grahame, we devised a battle plan. We would create a roadblock to slow the convoy, mine the road to take out the lead car, use grenade launchers on the helicopter and trail car, then finally secure the package. What to use as a roadblock? Civilian cars, of course! And thus was constructed the great wall of cars! With the road mined, we retreated to our over-watch position and executed the ambush. Lead car down to mines, helo down to gernades, trail car executed with gernades and assault rifle fire. Brilliant! Admiring our handiwork: Finally, note to self, fasten seat-belt any time Grahame flys a helicopter because stuff like this happens:

The game plays just fine going 100% controller. I think the rest of us are using mouse/keyboard for everything on foot and a controller for vehicles/aircraft.

If anyone feels like joining in with the usual crew for some Ghost Recon: Wildlands I made a Head-Case group we can all join: https://ghostreconnetwork.ubi.com/en-US/task-force/profile/23299/Head-Case

Africa's Great Civilizations I started watching a new documentary series on PBS about (as the title would indicate) the great civilizations of Africa. All episodes can be streamed for free. http://www.pbs.org/weta/africas-great-civilizations/home/ It is Dr. Henry Louis Gates' latest project. I watched the first two episodes and I've been enjoying it and learning a lot. I think the last world history class I had was sophomore year of high school so there is a ton here that is new and fascinating. The first episode primarily focused on the Egyptians and Kush while the second looked at the spread of christianity and islam in Africa as seen through the lens of the great empire of Axum. Man, I would love to visit some of these places. Meroe and Lalibela in particular look absolutely spectacular. Egypt of course is, as anyone who has been there can tell you, stunning as well.

The buzz out of GDC is that it is the best VR game yet.

Great music to listen to at work.

Happy birthday, Nate!

Happy birthday, CS!

Preorders go live at 11AM EST tomorrow morning on geforce.com. As one of the fools who sits at the head of the Head-Case hand-me-down chain I am contractually obligated to purchase one.

Kyle Lowry? Injured. Kevin Durant? Injured. DeMarcus Cousins? Traded. Man... the rest of the season feels a whole lot more interesting than it did two weeks ago.

Had a surprising amount of fun going to the nVidia GDC event with Grahame. The projector they were using in-house was the single best picture quality I've ever seen on any screen, ever. My guess for it is 8k HDR 60hz. The on-screen demos were absolutely stunning. We got to play on one of the demo rigs afterwards, but all they had was some fighting game we were unfamiliar with.

I agree with the tall man 100%. Bad neighbors + bad landlord = time to think about moving anyways. Think about what your desired outcome is, and how best to achieve it. We obviously only have a few of the facts here, but I'm not sure I'd like to live in a place where the landlord hated my guts.

On the contrary. Other than that moment the oscars sucked.

Has to be one of the top 10 funniest things I've ever seen on live TV. I'm still laughing about it.

Other than Emma Stone they weren't actors, Jacob. It is also clear that Beatty knew something was wrong and tossed a live gernade to Faye.
-
No way. I've rewatched it on DVR and the reactions on the faces of the people standing in the back on the stage sure look legit to me. Gonna be fun ragging my old law school buddies who now work at Arthur Andersen PWC tomorrow.

Well, sometimes you can't make this shit up.

Grahame just successfully landed a plane in the water that was not a sea plane. Right after we planned and executed a meticulous assault on an enemy base that involved mini-gun towers, rebel mortar strikes, and one pesky electrical generator... Which was right after Grahame and I shot down a bunch of helicopters with a tank... Which was right after Brent got his drivers license revoked for killing too many civilians/trees with his "creative driving." -- Yeah, that was awesome! I will almost certainly be getting the full GR:W game at release.

Happy birthday to the man with the coolest first name on HC!

RIP, Bill Paxton. I've always enjoyed his campiness.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is having a free open beta this weekend and I think Brent and I are going to check it out. It is 4-player co-op so if anyone wants to join in go ahead and give it a download. Steam Link (scroll down and click "open beta"): http://store.steampowered.com/app/460930/

I've long been a twitter follower of his and yeah... he posts some really unintentionally funny tweets. Despite his goofy public persona, I've always thought of Magic as a bright guy when the lights are off. I think he will do OK leading the Lakers but I also thought Phil Jackson would do OK leading the Knicks so what do I know?

Happy birthday, old young bear!
