  1. Hmmm... I don't know my pads, but just figured that having the drivers farther from your ears would help. Well, it's only with a couple tracks so far, so I think I can live with it.
  2. Well, no sooner had I written that, I changed CD's and threw on Ratatat. The highs are a little bright. Do they get tamed a bit with the bowls when compared to the flats?
  3. My APS RS-1's don't sound harsh or shrill at all in my rig. I'm really sensitive to that too and listen quite loud, so I would definitely notice it.
  4. About 10 times as much I would expect, 470uF should do it. I still don't think my RS-1's sound terrible on my amp though.
  5. Exactly. They are better, but not that much better... and besides, I think I prefer the RS-1's personally since they are more different than the HP-1's when compared to my K340's. Gives me a larger range of music that I am happy listening to on my rig.
  6. And with balanced amps that value doubles, right? It's weird, my amp only has four 50 microfarad caps [one for each channel], and it sounds great with the K340s. Even with the Grado RS-1's it sounds very good, though the bass could use being tightened up a bit. That might just be the flat pads I am using now though. I need to get a pair of bowls and do a comparison.
  7. If it wasn't sale pending, I'd tap that. Not a transport!?!? Hmmm, you got me then.
  8. Here's my guess: http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtltran&1210980436
  9. Not an energy drink, but I can't get enough of that Aloe stuff.
  10. That soon might be a little dodgy... I get my new apartment on the 13th of May, though the actual move date will likely be the 19th. Then I'm off to CanJam May 2nd - 5th.
  11. JB - That was hilarious! Give me time, I get moved into the new place on April 19th.
  12. Yeah, I basically just got a pair because everyone else here had one. I've actually never been to PEI, so that might be fun. Let me know if you cook something up.
  13. Agreed. I can't wait to compare our pairs Jamie. Will be interesting to see if we hear a difference.
  14. If I ever make the motions of getting back into programming, please shoot me.
  15. I'm with aerius, though I think the SA5000 is much worse than the DT880.
  16. Shit, I didn't even know that the Touch could do wireless internet... cool!
  17. Well, I don't have sound on the computer currently as Renato has been holding my transit hostage, but I think I got the gist.
  18. Well, the obvious solution is just to give them to me. I've yet to receive any 'happy divorce' presents...
  19. Regarding the urban lifestyle, I was a little leery about moving to Toronto. That said, the area this place is in is perfect and though I may find it a little busy, I think it will be great to be so close to work and the nightlife of the city. Yeah, the Lumagen looks cool if I can afford it. There are some DVD players that have inputs that get upsampled, I remember reading a thread on this. No idea what the makes and models are though...
  20. Glad they arrived fine, sorry to hear about the tension issue.
  21. Ok, cool, I'll try and get the 981 in that case since I want to use my behringer as the dac for my home theatre... will be cool to play around with the room correction features.
  22. Is the 981HD better than the 980HD in any way that matters or are they about the same?
  23. That sucks. Why is it so expensive? There must be some reason... Thanks, I'll look into the Samsung and Sony LCDs. I do a bit of gaming [Wii], and I do have a bunch of standard definition and non widescreen movies/stations/etc that I'll be watching. What is SD DVD? Glad to hear someone won the war, I was more interested in the PS3 anyways, cool. I'll also take a look at the Samsung BD-P1200 Blu ray player. Thanks guys.
  24. It's not mine yet, but here are some pictures. It is an amazing building... the meeting/party room is a full nicely furnished living room and large dining room and has a complete kitchen if you want to entertain. The pool table is actually pretty nice in the game room and the gym has very nice equipment. The 16 person private movie theater kicks ass, and has satellite tv with almost all the stations. There is a rooftop garden/park thing where you can have a BBQ. The pictures really dont do it justice, and I'm going to have it professionally painted before I move in. The stainless steel appliances [incl dishwasher] are nice. The fridge has a built in brita, and the stove is one of those new flat electric types. http://www.viewit.ca/vwExpandView.aspx?ViT=49906 Oh, and the lobby is incredible, all stone/wood/mirror, with a nice statue and a grand staircase. 24 hour concierge. Can't beat the location at Richmond & Spadina either... should be able to walk to work in the warmer/dryer months. With my new job and this place I'm gonna be a yuppie in no time flat. Thankfully, there is a Starbucks in the building as well as a drycleaners, salon and florist. Edit: The view is also much better than that picture shows. Especially at night.
