  1. Actually, it really does. This is what is confusing me about your question.
  2. Quick, mail them off to me before you croak! [congrats buddy]
  3. Replied on head-fi, I hope this is a joke... if not, what the fuck? Plug K701 into Woo3, dial in desired volume, listen.
  4. RIP
  5. I always thought it was ray-men, but someone finally corrected me recently. [rah-men]
  6. Oh, I knew you were joking, but didn't know you were the seller. The 840c is a great CD player in any case.
  7. Its a great amp and by injecting the inverse PSU noise back into the signal it allows you to disregard the power supply to a certain extent.
  8. I second the Aikido recommendation if it is feasible. I also second staying away from shitty tubes.
  9. I'm happy with my tivoli stuff in the bedroom. I need to take some rig shots sometime soon... too bad my camera died.
  10. Nope. The output on the zapfilter is pretty hot though and tends to make people either love it or hate it. Still, with good volume matching, a zapfilter modded E5 can certainly play with the big boys. I prefer my new CD player, but it is really a matter of preference/sound signature. I think Earl has experience with zapfilter modded sources though, so the output level shouldn't be a problem for him. Congrats buddy!
  11. I was just listing everything in my setup as there is really no way to know what component is warming up if you are using them all together. Let me know the next time you listen to your headphone amp without a pair of headphones and a source. Since my K340's have electrets it is minutely plausible though I would personally expect the source and amp to be the components warming up. Hey, at least I left my IC's and power cables out of it.
  12. that's mean
  13. My amp definately sounds a lot better after it has had time to properly warm up... or maybe it's my CD player... or my headphones... or all three.
  14. Very cool, with some vibration control and better [and bigger maybe] fans it should be an excellent budget balanced amp.
  15. Happy Birthday Jack!!!
  16. Well, I've never heard the VTGs, JPNs, or the Leatherheads and I've always been interested. Oh, and STFU WTFBBQ.
  17. Thanks deepak. I've been busy and haven't even had time for my headphone rig. Still managed to visit head-fi a bit as using the HTTPS side allows me to buypass my works 'netnanny' bullshit. Was listening to my rig for the first time in a while this weekend and realized I hadn't been here in quite a while. I know it is off topic, but can we enable the HTTPS side on Headcase? It would allow me to hang out here at work, which would rule.
  18. Nice score Jay... even I was considering those NOS VTGs on headfi, and I've yet to hear an AT headphone that I liked.
  19. Listening to my 16 channel amplifier as I write this. Did I get that math right, or do the pentodes count too? If so make that a 20 channel amp. Anyways, it is pretty sad that a $50 cheesy DAC was used to 'upgrade' a squarewave. I have no idea how good/bad the tech in the amp is, but at least he is printing and stuffing his own boards. Makes me wonder about Mikhail a bit. I mean, we've always gotten along and he seems sincere, but is he just a really good salesman who takes advantage of my trusting nature? I've always thought that Ray is a genuinely nice/good person who has a poor technical grasp but tries his hardest and cares about his customers. If even half of what has been said in this thread is true, I can't give the same benefit of doubt to Mikhail.
  20. Do we get a headcase discount? I'm shopping around for some nice copper XLRs at the moment.
  21. Congrats, I love the Moth Audio aesthetic.
  22. Happy belated Birthday Todd!
  23. Not even I am that stupid.
  24. Hey Matt, Didn't notice this thread until now. I hope you're doing alright... I know how hard something like this can be. Are you still in TO? When you feel up to it we should go trolling the bars for hoes.
