  1. Ok, so I think I've found my new apartment [will know for sure on tuesday], and I've been thinking over what I want to do with regards to my home theatre. Here is what I am considering: 1. Get a LCD or Plasma or whatever [flat screen, at least 40" WS and wall mountable] that has wicked upsampling and lots of inputs. Make sure that my DVD player either has no upsampling or that it is defeatable. 2. Get a LCD or Plasma or whatever [flat screen, at least 40" WS and wall mountable] that has no upsampling or defeatable upsampling and only requires one DVI input. Make sure that my DVD player either has no upsampling or that it is defeatable. Purchase one of these: http://www.lumagen.com/testindex.php?module=hdp_details 3. Get a LCD or Plasma or whatever [flat screen, at least 40" WS and wall mountable] that has no upsampling or defeatable upsampling and only requires one HDMI or DVI input. Get a DVD player that has lots of inputs and good upsampling. [no ideas here, but I'm sure they exist] Some things to note: I'm not interested in HD DVD or Blu Ray at the moment. I just want to get the most out of my current material. I will be getting a Hi Def digital cable package for the place. I will continue to use my Polk Audio RTi4's and Charlize amp for sound, though I may explore surround sound at a later date. What do I want to know? Basically, I'm just looking for suggestions on components to make this happen. I would like something that is very good quality, but I'm not really a videophile. I'm on the cheap side, but this will likely get installed after I sell my condo... so I might have more leeway in the price than I usually do. I'm also not sure how I should control switching all the analog audio signals. I could add them to the charlize with a switch if there is space I guess. Also considering using my Behringer in the home theatre rig, which would allow me to switch two digital signals. Those OPPO players interest me, but I'm not sure which is the one to get. I've considered getting a PS3 and 360 sometime down the line to get me into the hi def formats... or has one of them already lost the war? EDIT: Oh, and I got one of those sweet Harmony remotes through a deal at Dell.
  2. My skin is pretty stretchy, but that is on another level entirely.
  3. I've been seriously thinking about getting one of those things once the dust settles.
  4. Is this question for me? If so, there is a link in my signature.

  6. No, I've yet to hear Alex's cables... I am looking forward to it.
  7. A pair of apuresound V3 recabled and balanced Grado RS-1s. Thanks Jack.
  8. Not sure about that, I'd have to look back in the thread. I don't think I could get a proper fit with your pair, so that could have skewed things.

Damn, my choices are a Sunday or a Monday... bad luck, still might go though.
  10. Duggeh backed out by the way [no worries buddy], so these are still available.
  11. Wow, I just checked, and the Mac Pro that I would buy if I won the lottery would run me $22K. Nice.
  12. OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH I'm so buying this after work... along with Supernature, not sure how I've waited so long.
  13. You've got a good point there Fitz. Steve sold them to me for $250 [an insane deal given what all the components cost], and thats going to be my price when I finally get off my ass and do up a for sale post here and there. Shipping wont be exactly cheap, but shouldn't be too bad.
  14. Thanks dusty! I think you'd be a trapezoid. What would be the three dimensional equivalent to the rhombus?
  15. Bah, its all perception anyways. If you say the world is flat, it is effectively for you. Doesn't really matter all that much unless you are an astronaut or plan on travelling around the globe. Personally, I say its a rhombus.(sp?)
  16. To anyone who wants to try them, mine are for sale. I like them and think they definitely have a place in the upper echelon... but they don't play nice with my amp and are not different enough from my K340's to warrant keeping them. Steve can provide more details on what they are, but the price is pretty hard to beat. [$250 + shipping] I'll be posting them up for sale on here and head-fi soon, but if someone is interested let me know and save me the trouble.
  17. Tom was trying to sell his, you should have snapped them up.

  19. Actually, I think they have PS-1 drivers in them, and they're a woody.
