  1. Pre-emptive Same surname. Coincidence? It think not.
  2. Quad 99 CDP-2. I am an idiot, I completely can't afford to buy this now. Not if I want to do frivolous things like eat and heat my home. On the plus side, I am no longer in need of a preamp.
  3. That reminds me of this: End of the World. Flash Animation
  4. LiveLeak.com - Total eclipse of sun as seen from plane at 27 000ft

  6. Yep, that must be them. They appear to be quite impressive. 400,000JPY in 1988 is uh, $7500 today. They resell for a lot more than that, I imagine. The NSX10Ks are not quite as insane as the 150KG GF-1s, which were seven million yen a pair in 1991 (~$110,000 today). I actually do use all four. The other two are the fronts in my HT system. The odd man out is my 10-years-newer B&W CDN-CNT center channel speaker. It's funny looking, but it manages to hold its own sonically.
  7. Ham and grape flat bread from the restaurant/nightclub where I am currently doing lights.
  8. Imation RDX 120 GB Removable Hard Drive with Docking Station $4.99(!)
  9. 3-driver. They do have fancy schmancy tweeters, and dome midrange drivers that purportedly bring a small fortune by themselves on the used market. For reasons not worth explaining, I have four NS1Ks, so I use two as my surround channels in my home theatre setup. Years ago I read about a Japanese-only NS-10,000, but I do not know if those really existed and if they had four or more drivers.
  10. Thanks. I'm not nearly as pissed about it as might come across. I am actually quite pleased with the window, just as I will be pleased to have the contractors out of my life. I just vacuumed around the window and placed my leather couch and two of my Yamaha NS-1000s speakers. I forgot how bloody heavy they are. I haven't begun wrangling the speaker cables or figuring out where I'm going to hang pictures.
  11. I have it. Favourite tracks are Clutter, Super-Fun, Almost Undamaged (for that glorious square wave sound) and 56K. I like to pretend the last track on the CD doesn't exist.
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ7WTIg0vX8 Contains many naughty words.
  13. Today? Blah. How bout the last four fricken months? This thing ate my life. And my savings (and my life savings.) Not so much the windows, per se, which I got for under $300, but the months long process of removing the old (1967 vintage) window and door, re-routing the electrical and plumbing in the wall (I have forced hot water heating and of course there was a pipe right in the way) and making the new windows fit. They also had to repair the mud sill (where the house frame meets the foundation) and some supports in the basement, and of course redo the insulation inside the walls and replace the siding outside. Yesterday marked the first day that I had all of my living room available to me since sometime in early September. The blue tarps outside are covering some of the contractor's supplies, which he will have removed by the end of next week, or I will be decorating the top of my shiny new window with his freshly removed skull.
