Yeah I finished the Wine Adventures, not bad. Here's hoping they stick on a more general indigenous drinks vibe rather than going back to all wine. S13E03 of TG was decent. The SIARPC was one of the funniest ever, and now I have to find a source for that guy's TV show. The rally car film is classic Top Gear flamboyance, and would be an excellent Blu-Ray showoff piece, if they should decide to release this season in the format. Question though, during that final jump in the rally car, when the large plane comes perfectly into frame for the slo-mo... edited in or not? It shows up in another angle as well, traveling at a very believable speed towards the runway. Simply amazing bit of timing if it was really there.
  2. Gene exudes far more cool than everyone your little sister has ever known, combined. Can't say much for any of the rest of us though.
  3. Due to recent flooding I've peed in the tub (with the water running) or outside way more than usual. The septic system stopped working but the tub is on another grey water tank with no drainfield, so it kept working. Never in the sink though.
  4. Beely, if you aren't playing games you won't need SLI. Agreed that an Nvidia 9800 of some sort will do just fine.
  5. As a birthday gift I promise to not tell you to STFU today. Unless you deserve it....
  6. I'm afraid to bring my MPX3, what with the recent rash of dead SP amps. Oh well, it's made it this long, one more trip won't kill it.
  7. I'll be there. I went to my new local brewery on Friday night and met some fine folks who had made the trip from down south for some very limited release bottles. I offered to bring them some growlers on the trip down there, and they offered in return to set up a tasting of various rare bottles they have on hand. They said that they could probably do it at Brother Tuckers one of the nights. Don't know how many would be interested this time around, but the option is out there.

I watched the first episode of the first wine one last night, and couldn't get into it. I really just can't get into wine and feel as annoyed as James does about identifying other flavors that don't exist. I feel the same way about beer geeks doing that. If it isn't an intentional flavoring in the beer, stfu about what fruit it smells like.
  9. I can enjoy some rap, just usually not as an audiophile endeavor. By no means am I an expert, but I enjoy some backpacker stuff and even a little mainstream. Aesop Rock, Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, a little Jay Z now and then, Tupac... Haven't really listened to much rap since the backing tracks evolved from funk era samples into modern techno bs. I always felt the artists were more comfortable and worked better with the funk sound.

Indeed the first episode was quite good. Also watching Oz and James Drink to Britain. Aired back in January, it's a tour of the UK by James May and an even bigger blowhard with some seriously interesting locations, and education on all things alcoholic. I watched three episodes tonight while sipping beer and whisky at the appropriate times.
  11. How would the Shure Push to Hear work for this? Possibly put it behind you so it won't pick up too much wind noise, and you can adjust the volume of the mic output against your source volume.
  12. I've mentioned in this thread before that Terrapin have stepped up their game quite a bit.
  13. I've been on a mission this weekend, to find the closest thing to Pliny the Elder that I can get my hands on in FLA. With a recent memory in place, I picked up 12 IPA's on Friday and have been working my way through. Best contender so far is the Terrapin Rye Squared. It has the sweetness up front building into a nicely acidic hop taste, and packs 8.5% abv to Pliny's 8%. The rye of course gives it a slightly different flavor, but the overall experience is quite similar to my holy grail of beer. And damn have I had some shitty IPA's in the meantime. Why does every other one taste like soap?
  14. We demand pictures of alcoves.
  15. Of course I will change my mind, my meet master.
  16. I'm guessing Gene's started his vacation by now, so I don't think I'll be driving down alone for a quick overnight type thing. My mind could be changed though.
  17. Yep. Been using my crappy onboard audio until something got worked out. It did not like Woody Allen's 3 channel sound on Vicki Christina Barcelona, and insisted on routing what should have been the center channel to the rear left. It's time for real Blu-Ray audio in my home theater pc rig. Any PCI-E cards announced yet with the VIA chips?
  18. Lamest FTFY ever. Being the penis pump is far more vile than wearing one.
  19. Yes, my new custom title is indeed colorful. I do feel bad though that I haven't done anything to truly earn it. I'll get right on that.
  20. Welcome, sir bitch. I like your custom title better than mine, since I don't deliver kegs and wouldn't want to. I'm sure I'll earn something more colorful someday soon.

Finally slowing down for a day. Saturday after Spamalot (which was acceptable) I followed JP's advice without even seeing it. Toronado, sausage next door, Magnolia for more sausage, Checked into Alembic but it was full. We moved on to a middle eastern joint with a sign in Arabic. Had to order another $40 in food to get a hookah, but hummus is good with all the alcohol. Hot bellydancing show and then back to the hotel. Sunday was the touristy one. F Market car to the Wharf, saw the mechanical arcade and toured the submarine. Irish Coffee at Buena Vista, sundae at Ghirardelli, back to hotel. Sunday night walked through Chinatown, got some Italian food in N Beach. La Trappe was closed so settled for the Rogue Bar. Monday, took off for Monterey. Went over to the shooting range at Laguna Seca. Amazing that the least regulated range I've ever been to was in CA. Shot some restored WWII rifles and a shotgun. Went and looked at the racetrack, which I've probably driven a thousand times in the Forza games so that was cool. Long drive around the mountains and curvy roads which blow this poor floridian's mind. Might go to Carmel today, might not. Need to see a bit of coastal cliff action since that'll be new to me. And tomorrow it's back to SF for the official pre-jam party, NorCal edition.

Sorry Justin, not in LA yet. I'm in San Francisco with some really good (non head-fi) friends. Wednesday I ditch the friends and start the official pre-party with Al & the rest of the bay area crew, plus Gene and Thrice. We'll be in LA on Friday.

Good times with JP and Al today. Relaxed at the hotel tonight. Tomorrow we're going to Spamalot in the afternoon and then to the Haight and all it holds. Jack in the box sucks btw. Wish that was an in-n-out by the hotel.

I'm on my way to CA. Currently still ascending out of atlanta! Flying airtran, first airline with wifi. Pretty kickass. Dropped $10 for the privilege on this five hour flight.

I knew that van was way too cool to be a Dodge.
