A lot less pandering to non-gamers would have saved it. The E3 demo video showed each stage as being much more open ended.

So did anyone out there play this more than a day or two?

I was so hoping for the fall update a couple days ago when they went offline. Turns out they were just laying some more groundwork for that update, which is currently rumored to land mid-November. It also *finally* has 16:10 support for widescreen computer monitors. They've been selling a VGA cable for two years and now they've finally changed the software to make it fully compatible.

Metallica MFSL Half Speed Mastered Vinyl April 15th
NightWoundsTime replied to postjack's topic in Music
Reviving a dead thread to say that I got Master of Puppets yesterday at my record shop, and it pretty much rules. Need to burn a DCC CD off my computer and do the comparison, probably tomorrow. -
I was excited after the first season, when they said each year would focus on a whole new set of heroes. I guess they couldn't really commit to not having franchise characters. Seriously, what importance does Claire have at this point (other than being hot)? I understand Peter, although he would no longer be quite as important if they would've just killed Sylar and been done with it. Their yin and yang relationship is interesting but needs to come to a close soon. And major negative points for Hiro's stupid formula and the fact that he won't just go back and fix the problem.

Vinyl budget: Free table (basically) Upper mid-fi cartridge barely used, $100 Cheap but effective phono stage ($300ish, can't remember exactly) Record brush & cleaning supplies, yeah I've spent a bit but the stuff lasts forever. I doubt I'll use the whole bottle of full strength Vinyl Zyme I've got in my lifetime. Especially considering that I buy mostly new records, and keep them in good sleeves. Other tweaks. Not much, a record clamp, tracking force guage. Alignment tool is a carefully printed one mounted on a John Denver record (definitely didn't pay for that). The sound. Much better than my cd player that cost me a grand. Vinyl cures my ADD when listening to CD's, I listen to whole albums and the flipping and changing out is only a minor concern. Oh yeah and the selection is great. Very few albums that I've called favorites in the last few years couldn't be obtained on vinyl. Only huge disappointment was the horrible release of Radiohead's Kid A. They destroyed the mix and mastering on that one. That and Neko Case are the only things I can think of right now that I have to reach for CD's to listen to (and I may be behind on the Neko Case thing. Edit: Yup, I was.)

Studio 60 was awesome, but I was never a West Wing fan. I guess most west wing fans said they'd seen it all before and didn't want to watch, or something. True Blood hasn't been great so far but I've loved Anna Paquin for years. Gotta love the gap in the teeth.

Send me invites! Username is the same as here. Got about 900 albums shared, mostly in ~260 VBR MP3's.

Individual's Charge Report This woman entered expressway lanes that are one-way only, switched directions for traffic flow with rush hours. It's not an easy feat to get onto that thing going the wrong way, she had to run over cones and through a few barriers. A few miles later she piled up a few vehicles, killed a woman and injured the woman's 4 year old daughter. Worst part is she's kinda hot.

Found this on a forum yesterday, where someone had emailed MoFi about their vinyl master: Metallicabb.com > death distortion 5lp sucks! I'm a Guitar Hero/Rock Band addict, as some of you know. I hadn't planned on buying Death Magnetic for GH3, since the mastering was so poor. Hearing the quality on the GH3 version though changed my mind and I downloaded it last night. Seriously some of the most fun tracks to ever come out for the rhythm games. They're hard but not in an overly nonsensical kind of way (for this kind of hard see "Slayer - Raining Blood" in GH3). It seems that Metallica could have actually been writing these songs for maximum fun in a music game. The album will also be playable in the next Guitar Hero game which will support drums and vocals. This might prompt me to actually buy the GH drums, (or a third party, fully compatible with both games set of drums).

Reminds me of Knights of the Old Republic. When you go evil and everyone has to make their choice on whether to follow for the end of the game. I couldn't believe how evil they actually let me be.

It's good. I'm losing horribly since I went for the "Hard" difficulty. All good until I hit the Civ level with my race of Trogdors. They're full on military, but the enemy took over too much of the map too soon. Considering starting again on the Tribal level on the Medium difficulty so I can figure out a strategy.

Any update on the Nick20 situation? I just realized that he's the guy from Orlando who just hosted a mini-meet. I saw some stuff about a hospital stay in his meet impressions thread. I'd originally agreed to go to that meet but the guy wanted payment for the meet room upfront. I'm sure that he didn't have to pay for the room until meet day, so it seemed a bit fishy. I backed out because of that, and because "gear in a room" meets aren't really my thing anymore. -

"To successfully exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would have to convince someone to visit a malicious page and then attempt to save the page." Right. I'm turning into a Chrome fanboy so I'm a bit defensive here but that's pretty ridiculous to make a huge issue out of such an obscure hack. Congrats to the security company for identifying it. I'm sure such companies get rewarded for their efforts when they identify a leak. If this is the worst one yet, I'll take my chances . -

Did that come from our block of rooms or did you go through the main page? There's no penalty for not booking our rooms, they'll just dump back into the general population after October.

It's set for Nov 15th, in the beautiful but rambunctious Ybor district. Hotel: Hilton Garden Inn Ybor. Please make reservations before Oct 31st. Time: 9 AM to 6 PM Gear: Lots of it Drink: Even more Concerts/other non-meet activities: Certainly but nothing is announced just yet. Should know more of what's going on in a month or so. Being in Ybor, we definitely won't be bored. I've booked the meet room and a block of 5 rooms (two double beds per), for Friday and Saturday nights (14th & 15th). Cost for a room is $179 per night.

And the thread takes off. Now there will be two threads of nonsense on two sites and I'm going to get all confused. Hooray

Just watched the new Robot Chicken. There's a new Voltron skit in there... will become a future reference classic when calling for our own DOTU. Before that it was Land of the Blind. A bit of an overblown concept about totalitarian governments with references to Iran, North Korea, and I'm sure many other instances in history of one awful government replacing another, that I'm not totally familiar with (other than the general context that all governments are awful so this happens on a daily basis, it would seem). Also completely mixed metaphors involving elephants, which I found annoying. On one hand they are used for their memory. History rewrites itself with each tyrannical leader, only the elephants remember. On the other hand they used the old story about blind men feeling up an elephant and each drawing their own conclusions... thus the name coming from "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king". Bonus points if you guessed already that the hero of the story ends up losing an eye. Still and all, good performances from Ralph Fiennes and Donald Sutherland. Great sets too.

Yeah but I got into worse fights over Liero. Stupid spikeballs.... They were like the AWP in old school Counter Strike. A bit tricky to use but way too deadly in the right hands. To make matters worse Liero was played by multiple people at the same keyboard, making punches to the head all too easy. After catching a face full of spikeballs I'll admit to trying to cause some concussions.
-
I played the even more rudimentary "Scorched Earth" back in the day. Good times. Not as good as Liero though . I NEED an update of that game.

The new single isn't completely awful musically, but it may be the new hotness reference, at least the download I've got. Really want to know the source for this, because it's just a massive wall of digital clipping. Replaygain regards it as 13.75 dB over its reference, peak at 1.12. The thing is it sounds good for the much quieter first half and then becomes unlistenable. I'd like to comment on the guitar solo, but just can't.

Favorite Music Lyrics (Read the Fucking Rules You Damn Philistines)

Artist: Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Album: I See A Darkness Song: Nomadic Reverie (All Around) o all around a left buttock and all around a right all around your every curve I'm going to go tonight but only hold me, hold me all the city's on me and all their wish to scold me and lay their hands upon me so only hold me, hold me and I'll return't you baby I just need an evening with someone nice to hide me Artist: Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Album: I See A Darkness Song: I See A Darkness we've shared our thoughts but did you ever, ever notice the kind of thoughts I got well you know I have a love a love for everyone I know and you know I have a drive to live I won't let go but can you see its opposition comes a-rising up sometimes that it's dreadful and position comes blacking in my mind and that I see a darkness And one more. Obviously this album means a lot to me. Speaking of black and darkness as a concept of depression: Artist: Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Album: I See A Darkness Song: Black So I thought I'd try to cut him Try to force him 'neath my level The only way to equal to him Would be hit him with a shovel But to really rise above him That would be the final evil So instead I asked the sucker If he'd care to see my rooms And as a friend and as a comrade And all the things that these implied I made him leave what it was that he had Used to keep us unallied But really, I'm alright.
