Nick, since some of us have heard the difference on an actual T1 howsabout you stop guesstimating based off another headphone.
-
That person should probably give a 120 ohm cable a brief shot, and see what he/she thinks. Wayne's T1 just landed on my doorstep, so better impressions coming soon, including T1 VS. DT880.

Someday I'm going to have to set about figuring out why you guys are using professional mastering stations. But for now I'll just shake my head and laugh while you have another sip of koolaid.

I agree Tyll, on the stupid part. I did quite a lot of back and forth with the T1, and then with a pile of 600 Ohm custom Beyers that one of the members brought to the NorCal meet. My impedance cable seemed to help all of them in one way or the other, most stunningly on the pile of crap that is the DT990. On the T1 the bass certainly didn't get flabby, it got a nice solid thump that the cans were missing straight out of the Luxman P1. Oh and it should be mentioned, as Al first pointed out, that using the patch cable helped frequency response but seemed to hurt the soundstage a bit. There's that certain feel of "air" in the sound that goes away, but the impact makes it up for me.

Beverages will be both qualitative and quantitative, one should have presumed.

Too many rooms! Lol. Might not be a bad idea to keep an Ybor room as a nice little hub. Private bathrooms and a place to chill for a bit. Up to you though Mike.

Consecration in paper cups. Oh yeah, we're gangsta.

Steve, just give me a call when you're somewhere past Disney (assuming you're coming I-95 to I-4). I may just have you park at my house, which is pretty close to Ybor. Once we figure out who all is coming for sure, we'll pick a meetup place. Both Ybor hotels are indeed booked. As are most of the other closeby hotels. Doh!

The Ybor event runs from 2-6PM on Saturday. Looks like everyone is coming in on Saturday morning/early afternoon so we'll grab lunch in Ybor beforehand and get the pumps primed. Then more food and some live music, but I'm expecting a bit of an early end to the evening. I have secured 4 tickets for Sunday @ Skipper's, which looks to be enough. The event runs from 12-5 and will include its' own live music. Beforehand we can do some more pump priming with a required stop at the Temple.

Brief tests last night suggested that some things are fixed by a high z output (facilitated by the 100 ohm patch cable that Ari built for me). Al claims that the soundstage is slightly collapsed, but the basic tonality boost might be worth it. Will listen more today.

I seem to have screwed up, a bit. Didn't make the Memorial Day connection. Time to rethink things a bit (or try and change the vacation).

Best Deal for Windows 7?
NightWoundsTime replied to en480c4's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
I got mine for $30 but again it was through someone with a few valid college email addresses. It was a download only copy from Digital River. -
Further research: Grawk
-
I went looking for a definition of "Grawk" and all I found was some strange yarn. And here's a woman wearing Grawk. Happy Birthday !

At all, yes. Paid attention, no.

Been meaning to give Fleetwood Mac a spin. I'm going to go copy Al's old timey vinyl selection right now.

I am strongly considering a Peachtree Nova, and soon. I currently have no DAC and just recently have ripped my entire music collection to the computer. It seems like the logical next step. Having another headphone amp to play around with, and future speaker abilities, leans me towards the Peachtree offerings. I understand that the Decco2 is about $200 less than the Nova but gives up half the power (all the other elements are essentially the same). In the room where my audio rig sits, I would probably require bigger speakers so might as well not limit myself on wattage. The iDecco is a nice party piece, but it's a home rig so I don't really see the need for the iPod capabilities. What really makes me love this unit though is simply that it can be the brain of my audio operations. With multiple inputs and outputs it can play nice with anything else I've got on hand. The only question is, can this be the DAC that settles it for me? Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm not interested in flipping audio gear.

Yep that's your best bet. Two blocks from the beerfest so drunken stumbling will be easy.

Just bought 8 tickets for the Ybor event. Wayne isn't going to make it, so that leaves us plenty of room for Vicki and Dom. Has anyone booked a hotel room?
-
Not hanging with friends in the same sense as last year, I.E. en masse... maybe one or two carefully selected people will be along. If the travel team wants to make something happen I'm all in.

These guys are genius. They are offkey in a reliable manner, right down to the guitar solo... They're actually inventing new tonal systems, which could still be based on how out of tune their guitars are, but the fact that they've identified the microtonal offsets and that the vocalists can match those in such a sustained manner, leads me to believe that these are the true progressives of our time.

I've taken a whole week off prior to the meet planning on spending some quality time in the city (including the weekend prior to the Jam). Need to start doing my research, possibly on another part of town to stay in for the first bit, and then move to the Canjam hotel mid-week. Can the natives give any advice? Beer, food, and live music are of course my main objectives.

First post ever in a "what are you listening to thread"... Dear god help us all. Two excellent EP's by Beirut.

Happy Birthday! Now go build some cables, or something.

I got a bunch of bottles of Rip Tide here at Whole Foods for *cheap*. The buyer there noticed that the bottles he had were past the expiration date on the bottle, which seemed a bit odd for a heavy stout that only hit our area a few months ago (right after DanJam actually). So he called Brewdog personally and asked WTF was up, and they informed him that it was a misprint, and they were actually good till 2012 or so. He ordered everything the distributor had left, that was about to be dumped, and ended up selling it for just over $3 a bottle. They were better than what I tasted at DJ, although still light on carbonation. I gathered that to be a standard feature of all their beers. I just finished off the last of the gin about a week ago. Good tonic is not to be found in my town, and the last gin and tonics I made with the Blackwood were held back by the poor quality tonic. So I drank the last finger straight. It was a powerful dram but very enjoyable in a tooth-enamel-stripping way.
