  1. Not sure about modern Esoteric, but you would find similar "tactics" used by some Accuphase, Luxman, old school Teac Esoteric, Victor (Kenwood), Stax and Sony amp/preamp's.
  2. Stereoexchange reviewers who wrote the article obviously don't know shit about es headphones: "Most electrostatic headphones are sold with companion amps, which is the only way that they can be used. But did you know? Shangri-La is unique from any other of its kind and will work with any other company’s amp."
  3. Yep, for the models I had the transformers were mounted in a fashion where the windings was not very accessible (unlike Stax amps they are on the top) and there is a white plastic clip in compartment box where the windings are soldered to the taps secured to the trafo then a wire comes out to the mains. The Japanese companies really like to stop grey imports and people taking advantage of buying cheap from Japan then changing the primary to suit their country, obviously most cases there is a work around.
  4. Some of the Accuphases (depending on region purchased and the preamp and amp I had) have multi windings but no wires are soldered to the taps. Something akin to the older Stax Bando transformers.
  5. Shit, haven't check on this thread in a while was wondering when you were going to send me the payment required details. Will make payment within a day.
  6. Any modifications to get them to fit on 007?
  7. Shame we don`t have any headfi meets here. The L3k and Qualia 010 are two other headphones I`d put on that list, the L3k over priced and over rated to an extent when some folks use to rave about it on headfi back in early mid 2000 and the Qualia; if you want to murder your ears and never listen to music again its a complete bright sounding clusterfuck.
  8. Yes I think it might`ve been the kgsshv vs 323S that you had. It`s been a long time so I can`t recall 100% of the detail. Does your pads have any crease marks? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  9. So spritzer I`m finally getting off my ass and getting a replacement toroid made for my 12S is 65VA enough handling for the 12S? Here is a spec sheet from the manufacture I`m getting it done through based off the secondary windings you mentioned pages back you used to fix your 10S trafo. TI-169015 [960325].pdf
  10. Wait didn`t you at one time on the HF stax thread say that you couldn`t hear any difference between the bhse you auditoned at a meet and your old 727? Anyway because the pads are long gone from manufacture and hard to source (unless you buy from the UK Stax distributor for around 200gbp) I would use any leather conditioning creams (use standard colour one for all leather not color matched to the brown on the Omega) for the earpads. This is what I did and do when I had an Omega 1 a moon ago and for my other headphones with leather earpads to prevent cracking.
  11. Its a no brainer get the 207, save up and then get the new O2 007 or 009`s. While some like the 507 I dislike it in every way and a side step from the 207 rather then a straight upgrade (if you ignore the model numbering). The 207 with the 252S amp can be had for around $550 shipped from Japan and even less if you buy from YJ Auctions.
  12. Open the drivers and see if there is gold inside.
  13. He is not importing them as they are not worthy of importing (enormous price tag and no one who will buy one).
  14. Worked a treat Spritzer, thanks.
  15. I'm with maher that Neutrik TRS jack is ugly as sin.
  16. Spritzer would I need to re-wire my C serial number SRM1 MK2 from this: To this (your post on Head-fi): To be able to use the voltage plug? I managed to source a voltage plug and plugged in straight in but it blew the fuse. So I found your post (with the above picture) with some indication that the wires need to be wired to the voltage selector like that to able to use the voltage plug as I hate using a step down to 100v, I'd rather just use 240v. This correct?
  17. I would agree with his assessment though, having owned the 009 and Omega 1`s and hearing an mk1 and black mk2. I would say the O1 has more detail retrieval of the 3 models.
  18. Less flatulence with the port blocked.
  19. Large open area and no dampening/dust filter? In before $4k price tag.
  20. In for 1 set personally but a friend of mine may be interested in 10. Will get back to you.
  21. What design is this based off? http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/f167311644
  22. $20-25 per board sounds great if a GB for it ever does happen. Was very impressed with Mikes (mwl168) GB run of KGSSHV boards half a year ago.
  23. While I haven't ordered an SR-007 from PJ, I did order my NIB SR-009 2 years ago from PJ EMS'd to Australia pretty swiftly. Both FedEx and EMS are quick express services for shipping but I generally use EMS more as it is bit cheaper and sometimes faster (4 days max) expressed to anywhere in the world. You might have to pay customs fees due to being part of Europe, VAT and whatnot external costs to get the 007 past customs.
  24. I wonder when these will be released, wouldn't mind seeing if an Australian distributor will get a hold of one so I can listen to them.
  25. Yes but there is no such thing as 2SC32 or 33725. All Japanese 2SC/2SA have a model designation between 2-4 digits, not 5. I'm wondering if anybody knows the manufacturer for the above general purpose NPN/PNP transistor.
