I had a go with hammered paint in the past. To get a good looking hammered look you need to spray rather heavily to the point of it looking wet/shiny. Multiple light coats did not work for me, it looked like poop. The only problem then becomes trying not to cross the fine line where you get runs in the paint. It also took days to cure/harden. You have to be careful not to ding it up meanwhile.

#11172 ...and it looks like yours. The pins are J shaped and go through to the plastic frame and then back up. One end goes to the driver wires, the other to the PCB. I decided to wait to rewire mine.

If people would just stop licking solder joints you could just use the good stuff.

Could be DC offset from your source, as well. Switch Right and Left inputs and see if it switches sides.
