  1. This is not a portable device. Is anybody asserting that the thermal noise performance of an smd resistor is as good or better than a larger resistor like a RN60? Is this a potential serious compromise?
  2. DIYHiFi.org • View topic - Distortion in resistors Might be pertinent to the discussion.
  3. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just have a transformer shield added even if we have to pay to have it fabricated? Adding an extra case would surely be more expensive.
  4. Agreed. Looking at what most people have committed to as boards for themselves, it looks like 4 channel builds are the most popular choice. It looks like only Pars and myself were looking at a 2 channel build. If it makes it easier I would up my board count by 2 and go balanced. This would make chassis machining decisions much easier, as they would all be the same.
  5. How about just getting them from here?
  6. Nice. And you can even get a Dusty approved faceplate.
  7. How about a case with integral heatsinks? Something like this:

  22. ~$550CAD stands not included. Very impressive speaker for the money. Sure I can. I bought it used so it will get opened soon. Had the screwdriver in my hand before I even plugged it in, but thought better of it. Got some extra tubes too.
  23. You can lay them down at an angle. TentLabs also sells regs (not sure they would fit your needs). IMO I would go with an external regulated supply. The amp looks rather small, so keeping heat out of it would be a consideration. A quick and dirty CRC followed by a 78xx and 79xx should do the trick. Mount it in an aluminium Hammond and use the case as heatsink. A tracking regulator is unnecessary since its regulated again inside the amp in its present configuration.
