Yes, those are them. Damn, that is a good price... don't know if I need any tires or not right now. They are supposed to be coming out with these in a 700x28, which I seem to be gravitating towards anymore. Used to ride 23s and 25s.

Clinchers (i.e., open tubulars): http://www.veloflex.it/products/open_tubulars.asp?lang=en When I've ordered from Wiggle here in the US, I didn't have to pay customs (or VAT) or anything else. A pair of Conti 4Seasons w/tubes for ~$90 shipped. Arrived in a week. Not sure how this will go where you are, but something to be aware.of. I used to ride tubulars back when I started riding in the '70s. Clinchers back then really sucked. I used Clement Criteriums (230g) cotton cased tires. Back then, they were around $25/ea., which was expensive for me being in school. Blowing a pair of tires really sucked financially I had a pair of clincher wheels build in around 1980 and switched permanently then. I do have a pair of tubular wheels and have used then once or twice. They still ride as nice as I remember.

Oh, you're running tubular (sew-ups)? I was assuming you were using clinchers.

I had mentioned using Schottky rectifiers for this. I think I am going to have a few of these made: These are setup to take either a D201 axial diode (31DQ10 or equivalent), or also accept a TO220 package like an MUR820. I know the TO220s should probably be oriented 90 degrees from how I have them for airflow, but my intent was the axial Schottky diodes on these. I home-etched a pair of these and used them in my original Dynalo (headamp board). I used some Mill-Max right angle pins on those (3301-2-14-21-00-00-08-0), and plugged them right into the RS402 bridge holes on the PCB. If anyone with appropriate facilities wanted to compare these noise-wise to the packaged rectifiers, I could send them a pair to test. EDIT: Added John Swenson snubber across AC primary

You guys should try some Veloflex Masters sometime. Usually you can pick these up online for pretty good prices; look at Wiggle, BikeTiresDirect, Western Bike Works, etc.

I still like my Hakko 936, but haven't used most others mentioned here. The Hakko does what I need it to. +3 on multiple tips as it makes a big difference in using the right tool for the job. EDIT: Are you still doing any building Naaman? I used to love seeing what you did in Iraq

I would also ohm out the zeners to ground on the positive side (every junction). Any short on these would cause problems I would think?

Can you post the schematic file in Kicad? I have Kicad but haven't used it. I assume it has a sch and a pcb file similar to the way Eagle works? Maybe not.

Glad you got there and back in this shit Mike. I am interested in those Contis for my Accord when I replace tires fairly soon. Unfortunately Discount Tire doesn't carry them, and I like having their road hazard warranty. Might have to see if I can impose upon them to get some. The Michelins on there from the factory have been good tires however.
