The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Just as a follow up. UTsource kept sending me an email reminding me to order these, so I replied back. PS Audio PerfectWave DAC
^ Heh, good point. If it's already perfect, how is it possible to improve it?

PS Audio PerfectWave DAC
I've never used one, but I think their regenerators are probably pretty good (and effective). It's when they start catering to audiiophile silliness ($800 power cords, fuses, etc.) that they jump the shark. I can't say I blame them cuz it makes the margins look good

^ Oh, but they still are. And crystals... go read AudioAsylum's Tweaks/DIY forum

PS Audio PerfectWave DAC
^ Heh, had forgotten about that... the Critical Link fuse. Gotta be worth the upgrade right there, cuz its critical...

PS Audio PerfectWave DAC
PS Audio has historically been a bit thick on the BS.. enough so that I would be wary of anything from them. This upgrade may be legit, and I'm not saying that their products are junk; just that they have an interesting history. For example, they used to make stuff like power amps, but apparently they developed a reputation for blowing up, so now they make AC regenerators, which uses some of that technology.

i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
I would agree, but only looked at the offboard and was only looking at the TO-220 devices.

i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
Ooops, was looking at a A1468 datasheet. These are correct and are BCE pinout. I'll go back to sleep now...

Audeze LCD-3
I always thought that you would compare that to what was heard in a hall with acoustic instruments. What I mean is something like an orchestra in the same hall that the recording was made in. My brother always uses a recording of the CSO (Bernstein/Shostakovich 1 and 7) as his reference, and I would have to agree with him. Of course this is relying on aural memory, but probably the best type of reference that you are going to get.

pico vs predator, real measurements
I linked to this thread in a current thread about the Predator, so I think that is why he bumped it. Probably meant to post it in the current thread?

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Good thing to see some vendor info in this thread. I am looking for some IRF230s for my brother's amp, and here is what UTsource sent as far as a device picture: The markings on this don't look like any IRF I've seen... do these ring a bell with anyone else? I guess I'll have to go with Newark.

Audeze LCD-3
^ I've only met Rob once (at CJ), but Ryan's portrayal seems accurate based on what I've seen.
- And now what did you do TODAY?

N3erdling: still there. NoNoNoNoNoNo was pretty annoying, but probably had somewhat of a point. Thanks for bitch slapping the idiot with the "wut, 3K and 4K equipment isn't high-end enough for you?" Most of the rest of them are doing the old

I have changed my mind about Grado, I need help now to choose
^ Quite common. Last word is die. You should be able to piece the rest of it together
