    X-box or PS3?

I shouldn't say this because I was considering it, but Bryan (Aura) has a PS3 with PS2 hardware compatibility FS right now in the FS forum... just sayin... And feel free in the thread Al. Also, I am reluctant (personally) on the X-Box because MS is the devil. Of course, Sony isn't far behind, based on my experiences with a couple of Trinitron/WEGA TVs

No. Our house is uhmmm video-challenged. What is this blu-ray and HDTV you speak of? (actually do have HD now) Yeah, that's it.

    X-box or PS3?

Thinking about buying one or the other for my two sons for xmas. They currently have a PS2. I don't think they would be interested in playing any of their old games, and not sure what newer games they are interested in, though I would guess it would be Call of Duty, etc. I know they used to play the ones where you run around the city being a gangsta of some type, forget the name (keep thinking Sin City, but that was a movie) So, which one to go for? From what I understand, PS3 is free online whereas X-box requires a subscription? Also, any deals out there would be appreciated. Like these two need anything else to distract them from school (where's that double-palm smiley)
  4. They look legit, but the amp PCB is not set up for these; it is set up for the Linear Systems version in the TO-71 package, or pairs of 2SK170 singles. http://www.linearsystems.com/datasheets/LSK389.pdf
  5. Those are the ones that are ~$10 a pop? Pity they don't make them in the 3296W form factor...

I hope Jacob put the knives away! Hopefully you all are having a good time!

    RIP Ron Santo

RIP. Rough later life with his diabetes and all. Not much of a baseball fan, but I remember him when growing up. Agreed on the HOF as well.
  8. I just see that Killing Joke is playing the Broken Bottle (IIRC) in Chicago the 10th (and maybe the 11th). I take it they canceled? Oh, and it probably didn't come through in previous post, but sorry you missed these.
  9. Stop yer whining! Killing Joke might be fun to see (didn't even know they were out and about these days). Same for Social Distortion. Haven't listened to enough Epica to have an opinion, but the scenery would be pretty good lol
  10. Happy Birthday Gene! It was great meeting you at CJ this year... definitely have to have a few beers sometime. Hope you have a great one!
  11. Since you hadn't been around this summer, we never got an update on how your riding/racing went? How many miles did you do this year?
  12. In general, the softer the seat, the worse the problem, particularly chafing. I ride a Brooks Pro saddle (for 37 years), which is simply a piece of tensioned leather, and have ridden it for 6+ hours in the past (far distant past) with just gym/running shorts and no sores. Not sure I would try that now, but I can ride it over an hour without using bike shorts and no real problems. As mentioned, biking underwear might be an option if you don't want to join the lycra crowd. It also depends on how upright you are sitting. Distributing your weight between your butt and your arms/hands will alleviate some of the butt pain (and possibly introduce wrist pain). Are these normal spin bikes (Schwinn whatever, or the like)?
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Happy Birthday Zoe!
  15. Happy Birthday Bryan!
  16. I usually use strips of masking tape to hold stuff on the board while I solder.
  17. Wow, OP got out of here alive... Re. the ATH ES7s, I bought a pair of them and they sounded so good I immediately returned them. I guess I could have asked "Will burn-in make me like these?", but I didn't...
  18. I thought digger had a larger hifi2000 case for sale, maybe a 4U or 5U... not sure if he sold it already or not.
  19. I dunno. I had a pair of DT-880s for awhile; got em from jeff (VPI). Nice midrange. Yes, a bit bass shy, and a bit bright. But very clear. And very comfortable. They had a number of qualities that I preferred over say HD-650s. A lot of this postulating somewhat depends on the idea of a house sound. I'm not sure that all manufacturers have or attain one throughout their product line. And I agree with posty on the aardvark comment. Some of these threads start to take on the very qualities that we deem shovel worthy from others.
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Anyone ever listen to the Fischer FA-003s? My brother bought a pair and is going to lend them to me...
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. You may be onto something here Reks... left channel in my brother's amp also went...
  24. The far right fuse looks a little different, but doesn't really mean anything. Saw one thread on diyaudio regarding these, something about loose RCA grounds: Seeking help- something caused HUGE noise - diyAudio Do you have a meter, but just not there? At a minimum I would check the DC offset on both inputs if you have access to a DMM. And I have gotten schematics for free from Adcom just by asking them via email (if it comes to that). EDIT: A bit of info in this thread as well (see post 34) http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/56735-adcom-gfa535-bad-transformer-3.html And follow Doug's advice
  25. Happy Birthday Dinny!
