Where's the forklift? I know, don't give Jeff ideas...

I was also going to ask where you buy your parts from. Ebay and aliexpress, etc. are known bastions of fakes. BTW, Richardson RFPD (a division of Arrow) has the c2m1000170d (for $4.66 each) and ships from Hong Kong (at least mine did).

Rethinking this after looking at the Loki more. It seems to be well done for an analog EQ. Though I don't know if the issues I had with the HE 4XX could be fixed via EQ (thin sound). The EQ would help though, but not enough for me to have kept them.
-
From my experience with my departed HE 4XX, they need it. Much prefer my modded T50RPs (Mk I). If you need to EQ phones, my thought has always been you have the wrong phones...

Looking at the schematic, you are probably correct that it is one of the c2m1000170ds. I would replace the 20K resistor, then ohm out the c2m pins to each other (G-D, G-S, etc.). Compare to the good channel. I believe that MOSFETs will often fail as a short (could be misremembering though). I don't know if the UnitedSiC part that Blueman posted above would work. Kevin or Birgir might be able to comment on that.

Those look really good Al!

^ And?...

I remember this from my days doing classic Mac OS programming. I think one of the books I used to have described it as "where the OS goes to die..."

You have to order 30 from TTI. Thanks! I'll send you a pm.

OK. Getting ready to order parts for the GRHV and ran into these issues: No one seems to have any C2M1000170D Cree SiCs Mouser no longer stocks the Kemet 680uf/550V caps (nor does anyone else that I could find). For 1, does anyone have a couple of the Crees that I could buy? For 2, Mouser still stocks the 470uf/550V Kemets. Should I use a pair of those on the input, and use the 680uf/450V Kemets on the output, or just use 4 of the 470uf/550V?

Happy Birthday Chris!

Happy Birthday Mikey!

Nice Nate. And yes, it always surprised me how much colder it felt around any body of water, even a little creek.

RIP Pedro, Luis, and E.S. And Alex Trebek.

Stupid question: where do you get multiple solid colors of hookup wire such as that use in hhobeika's build. Rated for 600V, teflon jacketed? Stranded or solid? Thanks!

Same. And I really detest going to HF...

and now for something completely different part 3

Yeah, I've built the CFA2. Toss up between it and my DynaFET, prefer the dyna slightly. Probably because it took me so long to get it working... -

Did anyone ever do a run of CFA3 boards? -
RIP Sean. A great one gone.
-
Very sorry for your loss Fitz. A very beautiful cat! RIP Matilda.

John, those should be fine. Comparing the datasheets, it appears that thermal performance has decreased ( or been reevaluated), but electrically the same. Regarding the Dynalo, yes, they do seem to drift more (and act like the servo isn't working). IIRC, even the full size ones do this.

The Opus wasn't reading about 1/3 of the CDs that I had tried in it, so I replaced the laser in it tonight. Works great!

I assume that the values shown are mV? Also, when you say bias, I assume you mean offset? The first place I would start would be to measure the bias voltage across all of the 20R resistors, noting any variances. I would then do a comparison of the biasing circuits (consult the schematic) and go from there. It can be difficult to spot solder bridges on these, so checking resistance across all resistors (power off) might show you something. I know I had a resistor shorted that looked fine.
