Not really in contact with R10, so no, I don't think so. Of course sims aren't completely accurate either.

From what I recall when viewing the gerbers, it was around 106 x 96? Larger than I can do in my free Eagle copy. I’ve taken to using Diptrace lately for a board I sent off for production that was 142x95. It seems easier to pick up for me than KiCad, but I’ll keep looking at it. IMO, Eagle is shooting themselves in the foot with their pricing, particularly since Autodesk bought them. Integration with Fusion360, while in the “gee neato” category, isn’t useful enough to make me cough up for it. Others mileage may vary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had tried doing some mods to your layout in KiCad (going back to the RS402 bridges, and adding a Phoenix 508/Molex KK jack that I did in an Eagle library). I was having a hard time figuring out the libraries in KiCad and the schematic image vs. footprint. I’m using a Mac, so not sure the OpenGL is even an option in that... ^ what Justin said. Ideally, yes, you would want the p and n pairs to match. In the real world, that rarely happens or is possible depending on device type. I would think you should be able to dial out most mismatches with the trimpots as well. Has anyone actually measured the THAT340s to see how well they are matched? I know with some of the Toshiba duals that I had, you could get better matches with singles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice job! KiCad perplexes me, steep learning curve.

Hmm. Opening up R9 in a sim gives ~24V with a lot of ripple. Opening R10 gives something similar to what you were seeing, output at ~11Vdc (clean).
-
You might be able to but I'm not sure what oddities you would see with any voltages you might want to look at. Maybe you could pull the IRM for the negative side and inject V- at the offboard reg point, powering the positive side with the internal?
-
There shouldn't be an issue using a bench supply/sigma22/GRLV, etc. for testing (don't plug the amp power in!). You would probably need to run both rails for anything meaningful.
-
I'd check for shorts on V-. Look for any possible solder bridges.
-
Looks ok, but that probably wouldn't cause an issue anyhow. Check to make sure all the bridge diodes are oriented correctly.
-
I'd noticed the same thing Michael... I think the newer boards with 3 bridges have all the bridges oriented the same way. I think the older boards like we are using had them reversed.

I've never tried paste before but was going to order some on my next Mouser order (Chip Qwik 910-TS391AX Solder Paste No-Clean 15g Sn63/Pb37 T4). I was asking about heatsinking the onboard regs (not offboard). Also, for the offboard regs, any reason to use Amb's sig78/79 over some from ebay, such as seller LDOVR's (though I see he wants $220+ for the neg reg now
-
I'd be interested in some as well. I presume these would have the same limitations in terms of voltage range as the normal GRLV does? Could you do 5V, etc. with these assuming the reference, etc. were changed?
-
If going with the onboard regulators, do these need heatsinks on the top of the board? If so, what, and how to fasten?
-
Yeah, I know Marc, but better to use as designed. And wouldn't help here as you note.

It's too bad that Toshiba screwed up on the pinout for the SC3381/SA1349, and an adapter like this would NOT work for the SK389/SJ109 JFETs, even though they are the same package. I know, the JFETs are rarer than hens teeth, but still. The dual JFET adapter can be done with quite short traces, nice and clean...
-
Ooh, didn't realize Season 4 was out already. Need to get on this...
-
Doesn’t sound much like a GRLV... EDIT: doesn't look bad at all. Larger, but I for one could use the additional outputs. I didn't verify the schematic either. Board is 116.8mm * 147.3mm

Any recs for a hot air rework gun/kit, cheap? Looking at some of them on eBay. It won’t get a ton of use so no need for a really good one, just something to get the job done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
