I bought raffy's Mamba after reading this glowing recommendation. The feel is a little wider than I'm used to, but not bad, just different. I'm trying to get used to how fast the mouse tracks. I'm still overshooting everything. If I can't get used to it, I'll have to slow it down. In the end, if I can't get used to the Mamba, I figure I can just sell it to Jacob.

And that's the nicest thing I can think of to say about him.

When auditioning new gear, I typically use the Burmester Art for the Ear(CD-II) demo CD. I start on the first track, which is Radja Toneff singing The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. It's an excellent check for how the system handles women voices. I move done the tracks from there.

It appears that the power button and its label are treated as a unit that is centered from top to bottom. I agree that it would look better if the button were centered. I don't care whether there is a power label or not.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I went with Wireshark mostly because it was the first one suggested. It showed a TCP problem. Further investigation showed that parts of full size packets were being lost. At work, we recently changed the router. This was over the VPN and the first time I tried it that way since the changeover. Reducing the MTU of my connection allows me to work from home again. Hopefully our IT consultants will be able to figure out what the router problem is (bad MTU setting, no MTU discovery, ...?) and fix it. Worst case is a little network performance is lost over the VPN.
