What is the time frame for this 75%, the first year? For long time riders, I'd say the accident rate is very close to 100%. Of course, that is also true for cars. As we say, "there are two kinds of riders, those that will fall and those that will fall again. Again, what is the time frame here? I've ridden since 1990 and nobody I have known has died due to a motorcycle accident in this time. Virtually all the riders I know have gone down during the same period. All the people I ride with dress appropriately (helmet, gloves, leathers/synthetic suit, boots). Life is dangerous and always fatal. Each person has to choose how to deal with the danger, whether it involves sports, vehicles, eating habits, smoking, etc. Many riders like to play down the danger of riding a motorcycle. It's much more dangerous than driving a car. It's almost as dangerous as riding a bicycle in the street.

This was recorded by M&K Realtime. They were mostly known for speakers, but did a lot of direct-to-disk recordings in the late 70's and early 80's. I bought this album in 1978. It's one of my two favorite jazz albums, the other being a direct-to-disk recording of The LA Four "Going Home". M&K also made some high quality CDs of their d-to-d recordings. I have a copy of this and Fatha Hines on one gold CD. Unfortunately, M&K went out of business early last year. Enjoy your album. You have a winner here.

Katana is Japanese for "sword". So you're not far off. Of course, life is fatal by definition and being safe is just an illusion.

Better to use the hot water or spoon methods. Of course, maybe that's what they did on the R10s.

Hey Mike, Who were the winners of Oz's raffles and the UE11 raffle? Did they ever take place?
-
Congratulations! This reminds me, has the winner of the CanJam UE11 raffle ever been announced?
-
Yes. He made an orange one for some strange person.

Mediocre, eh? No wonder you won't make any more. I've been on the edge recently. This omission just might push be over. I guess I'll have to sell all my stuff now.

Well, there was also this overly large amp/ps combo called the "Menace" that was pretty good too. You must not have heard it. Also, I'm really hurt not to be one of the new folks you met.
-
Well, she did get here first. If she can preemptively stalk, I'm very impressed (and a little afraid).

So you block all Mel Gibson movies that don't also feature Danny Glover or motorcycles?

Whichever one of them that could solder, of course! The tall bottle Sylvania 7N7 is one of my two favorite gain tubes in the SP Extreme. Just be sure to get a Sylvania tall bottle. Somehow I got a Sovtek tall bottle 7N7. It's not bad but not close to the Sylvania. Yet you have time to make 7N7 adapters. I really like the look of the 4" tall cases. It gives the Menace the proper proportions and I definitely think that the PS and amp should have the same size cases, unless you are going to stack them. Then you could get away with a thinner case. Of course, YTMV (your taste might vary).

Nate's work is really nice. He's the "Felix Unger" of DIY!

It did have some blue painter's tape on it for protection. We all kind of liked the look.

Flopping and writhing on the floor sound like what the cuddle cops are trying to prevent!

The PK1 didn't sound very good to me without an amp. Of course, I preferred the PK2 (slightly) to the PK1 even with both being amped so take the first sentence with a grain of salt. I regularly use my PK2 in my bedside system, which is an iPod, dock and AE-2. It scales with the AE-2 (i.e. sounds better than just with an iPod) but you're right, it doesn't need much on the volume control because it's so sensitive. Even if one prefers a PK1 amped to a PK2 amped, IMO the PK2 is a better choice if one is going to listen much without an amp.
-
You might also consider Yuin PK2 earbuds. Really nice sound from an iPod in a small package.

Ah, the Siren's Song.
-
Sorry to hear about your injury. You have a tough road ahead of you to recovery. I hope that it goes well.
-
I would think that an iPod and earbuds would be "Team Minimal". Of course, for most of us it would be "Team Too Minimal"!

I can do that. However, the AC for the heaters could come from the PS on the Extreme, which still functions to some degree. Again, I forgot to ask him how the duties were split between the onboard and external power supplies. I'll be sure to ask before I order.
-
Once I get a new job, I'll reward myself by upgrading my Extreme to have an outboard PS too. I talked to Mikhail about it at CanJam. He suggested leaving the IEC on the Extreme. This means two power cords are needed, but has the advantage of not sending any AC from the outboard PS to the Extreme. Are you doing this too? I forgot to ask what is then powered by the Extreme PS and what is powered by the outboard PS. On an interest side note, Galina (Mikhail's wife) is now the business manager at SP. One now gets schedules, etc. from her. Mikhail said he was relieved to no longer have that responsibility. So when asking how long something will take, you have to ask Galina. Hopefully this will greatly improve SP's biggest problem. On the plus side, it can hardly make it worse.
