  1. The voltage rating. Those Fairchild parts are fine, most likely the same parts I'm using in fact.
  2. With SumR labeling your transformer, you might need it
  3. What about the cmos fet swittches that ML uses? Could be made a lot smaller than relays. Other options would be the metal can switches or even reed relays.
  4. Flew to Orlando.
  5. Brandy Crusta (Anvil) 1.5 oz Brandy .75 oz Cointreau .75 oz fresh lemon juice .125 oz maraschino liqueur .125 oz Peychaud’s bitters Shake and strain into a cocktail glass rimmed with sugar. Garnish with spiral of lemon peel. Considerably different that the "Forgotten" receipe.
  6. Red Hook 2 ounces rye 1/2 ounce Punt e Mes sweet vermouth 1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur Dash of Angostura bitters Dash of orange bitters Combine ingredients in an ice-filled mixing glass and stir until cold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. I really like Punt e Mes. I don't think this needs the angostura. Also, Jim. I've found when subbing Boker's for Angostura, you have to put double the Boker's in typically, as it's much milder. I was sorta lukewarm on it until I began doing this.
  7. I'm now doubting if 5 Guys here has grilled sandwiches?! I have never noticed them before...
  8. It's a grilled cheese, with bacon and salami. Do you guys have a place called Chedd's? It's awesome.
  9. Ever heard of Bundeberg in a can? Or as it's called locally.. Bundy in a Stuby
  10. Cablegram Cocktail (Savoy) Juice of 1/2 Lemon 1/2 Tablespoon Powdered Sugar (caster sugar) 1 Glass Canadian Whisky (4 oz) Shake well, strain into long tumbler (1/3 filled with ice) and fill with Ginger Ale.
  11. I didn't play with it too much, I tried 3 or 4 metal films (PRP, Dale, Panasonic, and another) and 1 CC and the difference was 4 or 5 fold after the first cap. Again, this is with a 22VAC transformer, so things may be different here.
  12. One other thing I've found, when playing with this on LV supplies. Use carbon composition resistors. They perform better in these applications.
  13. Credit for that design goes to Emile Sprenger and the late Allen Wright. There might be some later iterations of it, sold through Vacuum State Audio.
  14. Ok. What do you think of this design? http://www.basaudio.net/datasheets/hvreg.pdf
  15. I think it still has a few more parts. I use a MOSFET, not the BJT Darlington configuration. I also drop the series resistor before the regulator and it seems to come out a few parts ahead. My noise measurement is right at 100uV. What about a difference in short circuit protection? Also, what about a difference in supporting higher voltages?
  16. What post is the schematic in again?
  17. Let's assume both amps are Class A. The 10W amp biases the output into a more linear fashion than the 1W amp. Also, mpwi remember that output power doesn't necessarily correlate to gain, so your comment wasn't exactly fair either.
  18. nice! 180uV sounds about right, but I have other numbers I can track down. I would think with PSRR of a good CCS, and the nature of an electrostatic headphone load (static), that this would be good enough, but I defer.
  19. Typically I file paperwork and get the money back from them though. I just showed I wasn't a business and the materials were for personal use, and a check was in the mail.
  20. Weird. I have been charged brokerage fees for things over $10K, specifically by UPS, but never true customs fees...
  21. Note to self: A wine-glass is MOAR. Nice drink though, wish I could do a second one tonite..
  22. Customs? Are you sure it wasn't a brokerage fee Andy?
  23. Brandy Crusta Jerry Thomas (1862) Take 3 or 4 dashes of gum syrup (Sugar Syrup) 1 dash of Boker's bitters. 1 wine-glass of Brandy (Cognac) 2 dashes of Curacoa. (Curacao) 1 dash Lemon Juice. Before mixing the above ingredients, prepare a cocktail glass as follows: Rub a sliced lemon around the rim of the glass, and dip it in pulverized white sugar, so that the sugar will adhere to the edge of the glass. Pare half a lemon the same as you would an apple (all in one piece) so that the paring will fit in the wine-glass, as shown in the cut. Put the above ingredients into a small whiskey glass filled one-third full of shaved ice, shake up well and strain the liquid into the cocktail glass prepared as above directed.
