  3. Have an appointment for Monday. Let's see how it goes. So far the phone communication was sluggish. They were supposed to call me yesterday, never did, I had to get on top of it to close on the appmt date. Maybe I just got an incompetent employee because I was wondering if it takes this long to verify with insurance (who supposedly sent them the all the info yesterday) and schedule an appointment, phew... Went with the OEE glass, supposedly has the shaded area as the OEM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Called insurance, waiting to hear back from safelite with quote Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Yep, probably we do. I remember our previous car got a nick and the insurance covered the repair We have the same insurance company/policy type Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yup Probably a manufacturing blip But the van is 5 years old, surprised took this long. But have been better under warranty, probably not covered anyway even under the rightful period Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. The whole thing was so bizarre. We were just staring to drive when I noticed the crack moving, at first my brain registered as "water" but then I thought wait, its moving upwards, then the 90 degree turn, and it hit me what was actually happening. Need to check for glass places, but OEM may better quality by your comment. Thanks Chris Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. So I am driving the van this morning and out of the blue I see a crack appear in the windshield. Right in the middle, starts up from the bottom, makes a 90 degree angle and keeps going. So far it's about 16 inches from the passenger side edge. Fuck. If I had not seen it happen, I wouldn't believe it... no impact at the moment, and none that I've witnessed. I can't rule out a rock or something else hitting the glass when the car was parked. But the crack starts right at the bottom of the glass, weird. So, the crack is likely to run all the way to the edge. The migration was fast when it appeared and it slowed down, seems to have stopped at about 15 inches from the edge. So should I stick to the dealer for a windshield replacement? If not, any recommendations for glass places? (Like Tire Rack for glass?) Yikes [edit] attached a pic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. The Davies sisters have quite a few mashups from pop songs that really work well Oh, and also, Fitzsimmons's cover of wonderwall works for me as well, the first quarter of the song starts more like a joke, but when he gets into the song, he nails it. I don't know if anyone here is familiar with his stuff, but he has good original material.

  19. So I have been sort of digging out older music that I used to listen while growing up in the mid 80s. Mostly because I have not heard most of that stuff since then. At that time my English was mediocre at best and I may have been able to pick 3-5 words out of 15 in the lyrics. So we used to dance to many tracks at parties, etc or just listen for fun, not caring much for song content. So while I listen now (now being mostly since early 2000 to present day) a lot of the lyrics on that decade are mostly: wow that is silly stuff, ha! no real content here, just fluff. On the other hand, it has been a real pleasure so re-discover some of that time's UK bands, or groups, for instance, This Mortal Coil's catalog through the last decade (mostly since early 2000's) beautiful lyrics, cover songs , some originals, but still new lyrics to melody to my ears. Recently, I took to listen to Bruce Springsteen's catalog. Two songs that really have a dark, (depressed?) and raw content respectively are "Dancing in the Dark" and "I am on fire," I remember dancing merrily to those two so many times, totally unaware of how darkish they are... Anyway, nothing in the sense of recommendations to anyone, but more of in a way of sharing the experience thru a couple of decades, from the point of view of really getting the "song."

  21. It is fun to browse local stores for used stuff, but in my experience, other than the chain stores mentioned already above by Peter, not much in a way of "new releases" found in the shelves of local record stores.
