  1. I just found out (rather belatedly, since it was announced in May) that Quarry isn't getting a second season. That sucks.
  2. I'd never be the person to tell you to make a practical decision, if said decision meant you couldn't buy a watch.
  3. I have many Gould recordings of Goldberg, but this is my favorite performance.
  4. I guarantee you that this watch won't be available in the latter part of 2018, but I think you should go for one! They are limited, but not THAT limited, if you are willing to spend the money. If you would be saving to buy a GRUT, just wait until a Tribute comes up. Three months for the service is no big deal at all, and cheers for buying your brother a watch!
  5. I mean fuck, me either, and I was married for a not-insignificant period of time to somebody I had been with for years.
  6. I don't doubt it either, which is why I said "hope."
  7. They've honestly been less scary than I feared, but that has mostly been Trump and gang incompetence. What I'm worried about is McConnell. A lot of awful things can happen before the mid-term elections, and that is assuming that people actually get out and vote, come November 2018.
  8. I personally stayed out of this thread until I saw what McCain did, if anything. What we got was same shit, different day. I guess you were referring to whether or not he agreed with Trump's lunch choices, then, when you pointed out that "he's at the bottom of the Republicans who vote in Line with Trump's position," as there certainly wouldn't be much other point in pointing it out.
  9. So a "maverick" is somebody who only agrees 90.7% of the time. Got it. The Trump +/- bears out somebody who opens his mouth a lot, but raises his hand the other way, quite often.
  10. He's always talked up a pretty good game. Here is a fairly decent book about it. It's not written from my political viewpoint, by any means (though maybe it was, in 2007), but it certainly does a decent job of showing him saying one thing and doing another, over and over, ad nauseam.
  11. Maybe McCain, facing his immediate mortality, from a disease that is being treated by healthcare paid for by the government, could have seen that pushing this vote forward would hurt millions of people, including lots of people in similar situations to what he is facing, but instead he did what he always does, which is march in lockstep with the Party. Party uber alles! Party uber alles! He's always been a piece-of-shit hypocrite, and will remain one until he dies.
  12. On a plane to London, which is how it was always going to end (vacation fling, and all, and London was the next leg of her summer vacation), but let's just say that three weeks was plenty of time for personality issues to crop up, especially when you are spending all your time together. Now I'm stuck deciding whether I should spend $35 to send the stuff she accidentally left here back home. I probably will. Still, even with the strife, I don't regret it. The first two weeks were lots of fun.
  13. If you are buying new, that makes total sense to do it. I was trading in an Explorer 2 and paying the difference on a very lightly used (still under warranty) Reverso, and didn't want to make the jump up to a new watch (at the time, as is still the case, the used Tributes aren't much cheaper than new). Cheers, and make sure you show pics once you have it!
  14. Started cleaning up from having a house guest for three weeks. Things didn't quite end the way I was expecting, but I still need to clean up, since I couldn't be bothered during. Just the laundry alone is fairly irritating.
  15. Funny stuff Steve, and true enough (!), but in this case it's simply because mine was made in January 1969, which is long, long before Omega started engraving the casebacks with space stuff! it was 7 months or so after my watch was made that Omega started engraving casebacks with space stuff, which is a long time, right? Right? There are rumors of casebacks, quickly destroyed, that were engraved with commemoration for a failed Apollo 11 mission, but I've never seen evidence. I'd hope that this was rumor only, but who knows. Dave R, I've looked at Tribute to 1931 price, and it looks like they are just as expensive as they were a year ago (they didn't make many, after all!. The Tributes are more special, but not that much more special. I have a strap maker in Latvia (who does wonderful work; I have several of his straps) who made me a copy of the Casa Fagliano strap, but in Horween Shell, and in a custom length (and with 16mm ends, so that I could use my '50s vintage JLC buckle). The Casa Fagliano straps are like $1000, so it was a pretty good deal at $180, or whatever (and was quite a bit less than I spent on the buckle)! I'd be happy to put you in touch with him, if you are interested in a less dressy strap alternative.
  16. Before you buy a standard GRUT, try to find a Tribute to 1931 version for a reasonable price. I couldn't justify the 1931 price, at the time, and I'm very happy with my GRUT, but the Tribute is more special.
  17. They sure didn't write it on mine!
  18. Speedmaster would have something to say about that, Stretch.
  19. It's too bad that these are so much larger than the original Monacos (unless I'm mistaken).
  20. I like this one, but having recently tried on a 15202ST Royal Oak, I don't know that I wouldn't spend the extra money... I mean, if I were in the market at the moment, which I'm certainly not.
  21. Back when I did meat, I always liked to do St. Louis ribs in the oven, at very low temp. Looks good to me, though, Mike.
  22. Two of my three main watches are manual winders. Stupidly, I have a 6-watch winder, and two 4-watch winders, just collecting dust, from back when I had a lot of watches. I think the automatic Master looks great; I wonder if the manual wind Master is so thin that it kinda looks weird (I've never seen one in the flesh). That's a great Reverso, too. I love my Grand Ultra Thin. It, of course, get's plenty of wear with suits, but with the Horween shell strap I had made for it, I also wear it casually pretty often.
