This is what your face would look like If someone planed it down a bit.
  4. Wow, haven't seen one of those timers in years. I used to use those all the time.

Sometimes headphones just don't look like good valued when you stack them up against a good pair of speakers in that price range.
  6. Well, yeah. Some people spend over $3000 on an amp for a friggin. senn HD 580, a $150 headphone. Dumb or what!
  7. I like my Oppo, can't say how long it'd last running for days on end though. That really is brutal for any player though I do frequently run it for many hours at a time watching tv seasons.
  8. Certainly better than the last time I downloaded it.
  9. I downloaded a few of them before remembering I don't even like Ryan Adams. DOH!!
  10. ebay.de Germany is good for Stax and even though they don't usually advertise it, they mostly speak decent English and will ship to the US if you write and ask. I've never been refused so far and I've asked a lot of them and bought a few cans from there and ebay.uk They even have a Lambda sig with busted frame that may go cheapish. http://audio.search.ebay.de/stax_Kopfhoerer_W0QQcatrefZC11QQfromZR8QQsacatZ19646
  11. I got some 404s for $350 and a 313 for $250, so while it's not outrageous it's still a good chunk of change and only $150 less than one of my K1000s which I felt was much better sounding. I got an old set of gammas with energizer for about $130.
  12. You're not gonna find many stats for under 200 bucks. Ratty old lambdas (normal bias) SR-5, SR-X or Gamma. Any of them with a transformer like the SRD6 can be had for that price if you're willing to be patient and look around.
  13. It is a big problems for me too, not with interconnects, my headphone cables. They love my Etys and KSCs, however, their all-time fave chew toy is the cloth covered Stax SR-X wires, especially when it's playing. The thing was looking decidedly frayed before I swapped drivers and cables to less appealing rubberized versions. Pity they never made it all the way past the insulation, nothing says "NO" like a few hundred volts running through your teeth little pricks.
  14. Newest episode of Torchwood from the beeb. Blasted aliend littering up the place!
  15. Nice pics and impressions guys. Looks like a great little meet.
  16. Nice to hear more good things about the Pico.
  17. I believe Socrates has a set and likes them a lot. I think you have to be a real fan of the KSC to want to spend that much on a recable though. I need to have my K1000 rewired with a longer piece of string first.
  18. Breakfast: 3 Eggs, scrambled, a half order of sausage, half order of bacon and one English muffin, lightly buttered. Washed down with a nice coffee, cream and two sugars. It was tasty. The name of the place, B&O espresso. Seattle. A quaint little place just off Broadway in the Bohemian quarter. The weather, overcast, cold and rainy.

people are strange, when they're on e-bay when they're on e-bay, people are strange. When they're strange, bidding goes out of your range when they're strange when they're straaaaaaaaynge
  21. The W5000 as I remember it didn't sound like your ESW9 description. They were lean, very dynamic and very fast. Hopefully I'll get another chance for a listen in the next couple of months where I'll try to spend more time with them. I've never even seen the ESW9 in the flesh but they are pretty. I do like the KSC-75 irrespective of price and they are my 3rd most used phone behind the Stax SR-X and the K1K.
  22. Nilsson Son of Schmilsson You're breakin' my heart You're breakin' my heart You're tearin' it apart So fuck you!
  23. I would love to spend a day playing with all your toys. Admittedly I'd probably make a huge mess with tangled wires and bits all over the place but *I* think it would be worth it
  24. A solid DAC/amp is never a bad idea, especially a USB one if you run from computer. It seems to me that you have some gear that you could flog off over at H-F to build up funds. Now, if you were to sell off the tommy, alo, and some of your lesser used cans you could probably fund one pretty good system rather than have a whole bunch of middling stuff. I don't think the Pico is a bad decision by any means.
  25. I wasn't going to say that
