  1. I was really just asking whether they've been modded or not. From what I gathered, most people that use the HD414 pads do the reverse quarter mod.
  2. IIRC, the HD line is just home versions of the mkII line, and both have been available on eBay for a while at much lower prices.
  3. Did you quarter-mod the HD414 pads?
  4. Maybe it's used to invert the signal for single ended inputs?
  5. Oh. I thought that maybe you were trying to power it off USB. Assuming the drive works elsewhere, I have no idea why it wouldn't work with the adapter.

  7. IIRC HeadphoneAddict took both head-f1.org and head-f1.com.
  8. My guess is that it's one of those with the metal rod jumpers inside. It should be pretty easy if somebody can tell you where the jumpers should go. I'm not really an expert though, so don't trust what I said.
  9. I think I actually prefer music in languages I don't understand.
  10. It's easier for the older amps. Which model are you talking about?
  11. Congrats Birgir and good luck fixing your new amp.
  12. These are indeed prettier than my headphones.

  14. I have no personal experience here, but I've heard that the HD414 pads are also in between the bowls and flats if you mod them the right way.
  15. Can't wait to read your impressions. And a KGSS/O2mkII combo if you find a KGSS there.
  16. QFT. I'm waiting for comparisons against the SR-007. Since the HD800 looks to be a poor choice for summer headphones, I'll only be buying a pair if I like them more than the SR-007 overall.

It's LA. The shuttle bus is probably just stuck in traffic.
  18. Thanks for the info. I guess the Grados, K501, or DT880 would make better summer headphones then. Too bad I prefer the sound of the O2, K701, and HD650.
  19. That's interesting. Are they hotter/warmer than the other popular open headphones like the HD650, K701, DT880, RS-1, Omega II, etc?
  20. FLAC sounds flat, Apple Lossless sounds sweet, and Monkey's Audio sounds jittery (the dancing is the jitter).
