  1. When Molly the Cow jumps over the fence, she's not jumping up, she's kicking the Earth down.
  2. Glad to hear that you guys already have your power back.
  3. I would try it, but I sold my HD650s a while ago.
  4. Outside of some woodies, I guess most high end headphones should have very low levels of harmonic distortion anyway.
  5. Unlike some other posters, I was only talking about what convolution can do in theory. EQ and phase changes are possible. Time delay is a kind of phase change, so it is possible. Combinations (sums) of these effects are possible, which include things like adding or canceling out echos/reverbs. Harmonic distortion, which adds harmonic frequencies as a function of the fundamental frequency, is not possible. If the input to your convolver is a pure sine wave, the output can only be a pure sine wave with the same frequency.
  6. Convolution might be able to simulate some other attributes of "tube sound," but it should not be able to simulate harmonic distortion.
  7. You may be able to do EQ with phase adjustments using a convolver, but I don't think harmonic distortion can be simulated or canceled out with a convolver. With more complex processing, you may be able to handle harmonic distortion as well.
  8. My sister plays the piano and has perfect pitch. One of my uncles plays the violin and has perfect pitch. I've never really received any musical training, so I have no idea whether I have it or not. Probably not though.
  9. I recommend buying the BHSE instead along with the SR-007, SR-Omega, HE90, and the new EMM Labs DAC2.
  10. The dumplings are great, but my favorite dish from them is the steamed chicken soup (with or without noodles). I've been to both the main store in Taiwan and the LA branch. IMO the LA branch is not quite there yet, but it's not that far off. Certainly worth the waiting time to me. I haven't been to the main store for several years though, and I'm not sure how reliable my memory is. The first time I visited the LA branch was around 2 years ago, and the second time was around 6 months ago. I think they improved significantly during those 18 months in between. I'm making another visit at the end of this month, and I'm hoping for further improvements.
  11. Din Tai Fung Dumpling House :: North America Branch / :: ? This is the US branch store of my favorite restaurant (from Taiwan). You might have to wait a while to get in, so I'm not sure whether it works for you or not.
  12. So it's a bottle of Scotch? Welcome back!
  13. Aren't they the ones selling the "balanced" K702 cables?
  14. I can only go to Neil's place this weekend or next Saturday.
  15. I'm still not sure about buying the D70. If you really want it, you can take my spot in the queue. I didn't know that you are also a Head-Case member. I'm sure that that the NWO sounds great, but I don't think my budget will ever get that big.
  16. Wait a minute. Don't you guys all live in NorCal too? The seller is actually neilvg. You people probably know him from the meets. He offered to let me go and try out the D70 at his place, so maybe that's what I'll end up doing. \
  17. Thanks for the information guys. I think the KGSS + SR-007 is a little on the analytical side, and that's why I'm a little worried. However, I've also found that predicting synergy is a lot more complicated for me than just cold vs. warm. Normally, I wouldn't think that this is worth a try given what you guys said. I'll be able to pick up the D70 locally though, so the risk is much lower.
  18. Has anyone heard the Esoteric D70? I'm thinking of buying one used for ~$1500. It seems like a nice deal to me, but I've heard that it is on the cold/analytical side. I'm a little worried that it might sound too cold/analytical/sterile with my Headamp KGSS and SR-007. Also, it seems that Esoteric isn't very well-liked here. What is the reason for this? Any information on this unit would be greatly appreciated.
