  1. That's, like, your opinion, man... The default suggestion if you listen to CD's is the Behringer.
  2. Record cleaning machine?
  3. Pretty much where I am. That said, I can't argue with Kevin -- one should be able to call someone out for running websites so shabbily. It should be said -- I know everyone's thinking, "oh, he probably learned his lesson", but there's a difference between knowing something, and hearing someone else say it to your face. Repeatedly. Ad nauseum. Lots of different people. I suspect the correct phrase is "lazy ass". It was laziness that made him not do something -- anything -- about his backups. He knew better, and he just didn't do it.
  4. Nothing -- just get a standalone equalizer. It shouldn't be built-in to the amplifier, so that the consumer didn't have a choice.
  5. I second the Singlepower recommendation. EarMax Pro would be another potential <US$1K solution.
  6. Yeah, that's it -- Stacey Q, not Suzie Q.
  7. Not the worst song ever, but it basically takes tracks like "Let the Music Play" by Shannon, or perhaps "2 of Hearts" by Suzie Q, and revamps it. Somewhat. Maybe a little bit of New Order thrown in, but not that good. It was okay, I give it a C+.
  8. Buh?

  10. She's gone by many names -- her official name is Luvbug, although lately we've been calling her "Bugaboo". I also took to calling her "Poopykins" when I was watching her for the first time.
  11. Thanks, all! She's got a great personality, too -- my favourite memory of her is when my mom was watching my sister's cats for her, and I went over to visit them, and my mom was getting so frustrated with them that she had them locked in a room, and when I opened the door, she came bounding over to me and leapt in my arms. She's also a lap cat, which I miss -- my housemate's cat (whom I also help care for) isn't much of a lap cat. In fact, it took me over a year to get her used to being held without spazzing out. Didn't even think of this -- I'll see what I can do.
  12. [me=Dusty Chalk]scribbles notes viciously on Post-It Notes.[/me] Actually, I'm familiar with a lot of what you described (Steve Hackett, in particular, is a good call, and I count Yes in my top 10 favourite artists of all time), but yeah, I need to check out Camel and Gentle Giant especially.
  13. I've been watching this cat for what started out as a couple weeks, has evolved into several months, and I have now taken ownership. I've known her on and off through the years, but am only now taking full responsibility for her.
  14. No, it's not a format -- but it renders the necessity of multiple formats moot, dunnit? It's the eBook equivalent of a universal player, innit?
  15. They have legs?
  16. No, that reflects my experience as well -- that's why I was wondering. I was the SA and the DBA, as well as the developer and the guy who carted the trash to the door.
  17. I wonder if he's turned the indexes off? Sometimes that slows things down. Especially if he has to rebuild them when he's done anyway.
  18. Are you sure about that? If "different" was supposed to modify "think", then yes, but isn't there are an admittedly more rare construct of verb predicate-adjective? Or would it have to be in quotes for that to be correct? For example, "Be different" (probably a bad example, since imperatives have an implied subject, I.E. "you", and in this case, "different" is modifying "you", but in "think different", "different" is not modifying "you").
  19. Yeah, there is -- it's called a laptop.
  20. L, yeah, fireworks are a unique auditory experience.
  21. Way too young for me, but in the interest of full disclosure, I probably wouldn't turn down a quickie from any of them.
  22. No, I didn't miss it, I only neutered the follow-up, because in my mind, the damage was done. But yeah, if people are going to keep linking back to it -- gone (-ish).
  23. Study finds swearing good
  24. Cool! I've got a small home studio myself, but haven't done anything with it yet. Your music tastes are also interesting (I tend to like instrumental-heavy music, myself, although I know very little besides Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree, and maybe King Crimson and other progsters -- I will have to check out Gentle Giant after that description).
