  1. These are going to be crap, right? I want the gold Damascus katana. And the purple and black joker knife. And a pink one. And perhaps a Doppler one. https://bladecity.shop/
  2. I still giggle over those.

  4. Happy birthday! (party favour noise) hey you want to hear something funny? I started listening to Grateful Dead.
  5. Yes. It should be “...high-cost/performance-limited...” or perhaps not
  6. Guerilla glass FTW!
  7. Hey, Horseshit is a pretty accurate determining factor for the health and diet of the horse! Don't go insulting horseshit like that...
  8. Happy birthday, Al! (party favour noise)
  9. New Bill Nelson
  10. This is what slow motion photography is for—capturing fails in all their glory. 2:47 is where I start laughing, but start at 2:33 for the lead-in. And yes, it’s a party favour full of dusty chalk. So, doublepluswin.
  11. Thank you, I needed to be reminded of that expression.
  12. Yeah, I just watched it on my iPad, definitely need to give it a second viewing when it comes out on Blu-Ray (hopefully it does, streaming compression artifacts FTL, especially considering the budget -- I heard somewhere that it was the most expensive first season of a show since GoT, which is the high bar).
  13. Yeah, that would be my prediction as well.
  14. https://toundra.bandcamp.com/album/iii Instrumental Metal I mean, just check out "Lilim" https://toundra.bandcamp.com/track/lilim
  15. Great idea. One of my favourite cyberpunk novels. I was going to re-read it to see if I could spot more of the differences than I picked up on from memory. The whole trilogy is worth reading (Altered Carbon + Broken Angels + Woken Furies). I can recommend the two standalone novels as well -- Black Man and Market Forces.
  16. It's pretty much exactly what it says it is. Solo instruments recorded well, playing renditions of familiar tunes, if somewhat simplified. It pretty much sounds like someone in a guitar center going through the different sounds on a guitar/electric piano/saxophone/trumpet/steel drums/what-have-you, noodling around in an attempt to capture what was originally played in an ensemble format. Except the musician really knows the material. You have to really love the sound of the instrument to be able to listen to it for 36+ minutes, which I happen to (at least, the electric piano and the accordion ones). Take, for example, the electric piano version of Peter Frampton Comes Alive -- it's almost half as short as the album. And they don't add distortion, so it's not so much produced as performed straight. I'm tempted to grab one of the electric piano ones, just so I can sample the shit out of it. I'm listening on Tidal, on which the artist is listed as "Solo Sounds". Some of them are pretty brave -- Miles Davis' Kind of Blue! I should put it on shuffle.
  17. Alright, that's enough of that, now this: As well as revisiting the wonderful Weather Diaries:
  18. Some of these covers albums have weird choices, but that just makes me more curious, e.g.:
  19. Condolences, that’s really tragic. She looks way too young to have gone so unpredictably.
  20. Remember: waffles are just pancakes ribbed for your pleasure
  21. Happy birthday! (party favour noise)
  22. Pastrami sammich from Subway.
  23. Sounds awesome! Despite having been into them since ~Amber/Basscadet/Garbage/Anti days, I’ve never seen ‘em live. I have seen Pansonic and Mouse on Mars, though. Your comment reminded me of one Pan Sonic show in particular, where it felt like they were searching for the brown note, and found every other colour of the rainbow except brown, resonating practically every part of my body. It was a surprisingly pleasant and sensual experience, and I was sober. Ever since then, I’ve never criticized a band for being more interested in sonorities than melodies.
  24. You should just cut'n'paste the link straight into your post, give it a moment, and the software should change it to an embed on its own. The hard part is stopping it from doing so -- which I'd like to do with the occasional NSFW link -- how are you doing that? PS Love early Autechre -- I lost interest when they started introducing randomness to their rhythms.
