I’m at the doctor, too, checking if foot is borked. And yes, it’s the left foot, too.

Egad, that biscuit had a target already locked

https://imgur.com/a/iouDx Hopefully you can see why I was overwhelmed. PS I watched 10 Cloverfield Lane last night (because why? I don't know), and they had something called, "Glenvagulin".

Because whether you like it or not, you’re still paying for the display, keyboard, and touchpad. Plus, space and cooling considerations. But I saw a Mac Pro for ~$1,500 yesterday and while I dawdled (trying to come up with a reason not to buy it), it sold. And a new Mac Mini was $1,100 with both fusion drive and 16GB, while the refurb was only $70 less and (head explodes)

Just following up: I found out you can't * upgrade memory on the late 2014 Mac Mini, which seem to dominate the marketplace. The prior 3, yes, but not on the "late 2014" types which seem to be all over the market, so I will probably be getting a 16G just to attempt to preempt future obsolescence, planned or otherwise. Or get an 8GB and plan on sticking with it. * They're soldered into place, so you can if you're handy with soldering, but I'm not.

I guess I know where I'll be April 17th. Thanks!

I had a gyro platter with greek fries (oregano and garlic, I think) that was tasty as. Not some hole in the wall place, this was a fancy shmancy place. The couple next to me were having lobster and crab, I think. They were making NSFW noises.

Okay, probably going back down there next weekend, will buy if it is still there. They had Stagg Jr. -- that's a good one, too, innit? I took pictures. It's not quite as great a selection as Perfect Pour, but it's up there. I ended up getting two more bottles of Farmstock. And you were right about the 12 year -- even the second bottle wasn't as smooth as the first. Still good, just different. I will try to make it last a little longer. Thanks for the comments, by the way. Is there a place for whisk[e]y like there is RateBeer for beer? That I can look up things like "peaty" or not.

Compass Box? I see one that says Peat Monster, so should avoid, but that doesn't mean they're all peaty...are they? He wants me to buy the Sazerac Rye--that's a good one innit? They have Four Roses yellow label(80 proof), Small Batch(90), and Single Barrel(100), but I think I've seen all of those in Virginia.

They need to add a subwoofer.

Aw, major I own several of his CDs, including a non-soundtrack one and I think a collaboration with Sigur Ros.

Hello! What kind of music? Anything I'd be interested in, or should I just stare at the album cover? The last time I bought an album for its cover like that, it was Chynna Philips' Naked and Sacred, and I don't really remember the music, which means I probably thought it was crap. But who knows, maybe I'd like it now?

Fit? Woot! It's very blue. So blue. Much blue.

Egad, what a great album cover.

Wait, I said that wrong. I meant Apple -- Apple products can go in either place, IMHO.

Yes. I just watched episodes 5 & 6, that's where it really took off. EDIT: finished it, I think it was a really good treatment. And I take the earlier statement back about taking off, I enjoyed every episode. The last one might have been a tad drawn out. Now watching Fred Armisen: Standup for Drummers -- this shit is hilarious. Fast-paced/rapid-fire and a bit schizophrenic, but that makes it better.

Yup, and a couple Moogerfoogers, and I think I see a Mother32 or two... More Bowie/Nudibranchia likenesses -

Happy birthday, Jeff! (party favour noise) I miss you.

4 hours?!?!? I thought it was a ZZ Top video at first. -
My attitude is, if it's an iOS device, then it belongs in the iPhone thread, and if it's Mac, then it belongs in this thread, so...yes. Thank y'all for the input, especially for the refurb links. That's the way I was leaning, so appreciate the confirmation and the better prices. Hackintosh is definitely on the table in the future, but for iOS development, I kind of want legitimate everything.
-
No, you really can't. I mean, you can, but it's basically faking out a Mac OS, notice #5 on this list: https://learnappmaking.com/develop-ios-apps-on-windows-pc/ Appreciate your other suggestion, though. I'll look around, but I'm weary of 2nd hand computers, because you never know what issues it has. Except here, I would of course, trust people here, but I think I've only ever seen one Mac Mini go on here ever.

Actually, the main purpose is for app development for iOS. Not sure that requires a lot of firepower. Most of my home music listening is on this, my Windows machine, and most of my work and travel music listening is on mobile devices, FLAC and Tidal cached streaming. So back to the Mac Mini -- no need for super high power GPU assisted computing, or video power, or audio power. It'll be largely for an IDE and not much more. If I wanted that, I'd probably get the new iMac Pro, but I don't have that kind of money. I kind of thought software had a longer lifespan on Macs, so I didn't think 2014 was that long ago, "in dog years", as it were. But yes, I think I'd be a little too frustrated with the 1.4. And yes, that's what I was thinking -- I wouldn't need as much cache memory if I had a fusion drive...I think. I've actually not ever designed a system around compromises.

Altered Carbon starring Joel Kinnaman -- awesome! One of my favourite cyberpunk novels, and though I've only watched one episode so far, very happy with the treatment. "The instinct of violence curls inside us like a parasite, waiting for a chance to feed on our rage and multiply until it bursts out of us."
