  1. turntable.fm is virtual crack.
  2. Holy shit, that stuff was addictive as hell.
  3. Okay, to follow up: Stolen Babies physical copy doesn't come out until 10/16. Digital copy is out now. Will probably wait on the other two until then. Maybe. Couldn't find the current Unexpect on Spotify. So maybe not.
  4. Stolen Babies -- t'were awesome, exactly as entertaining as I expected. Short concert, but they played everything I wanted except Lifeless, which would have dominated the short set too much to be appropriate, which I understand. Paradise Lost -- t'were awesome, but short set does not benefit this legendary band. And they didn't get a very strong reaction, so I doubt I'll ever see them headline. Alas. Katatonia -- I've seen them several times now, and Jonas always starts out not even trying to sing -- it's almost like a spoken word version of some of the songs. I don't think I'll see them again, my earlier memories are better than they are now. Devin. Fucking. Townsend. Fucking. Project -- unholy carp, he was ridiculously more entertaining than I expected. Total highlight of the night. <plays some proggy metally stuff> "Okay, that's the shit you play if you never want to get laid. Now here's a ballad. <starts ballad> No no, don't cross your arms, that intimidates me." Also: "I made out with a wolf. And now I'm angry. Because that shit was disturbing." End of tour shenanigans are the best. Amazing stage presence. And quite easily the highest fidelity metal concert I've ever heard -- you could understand every nuance of everything he said.
  5. Happy Birthday! (party favour noise)
  6. Lollers. Agreed. Unholy carp, that's really douchey. I mean, does he really expect to make a difference in a campaign? How fucking stupid..."Oh my gosh, what was I thinking, promoting Obama with a bumper sticker?!?!? I will change my ways immediately!"
  7. Kerrygold Dubliner Reserve -- this is my favourite cheese, evar. And rather easily obtainable, too. If someone who is familiar with cheddars and dubliners and the like, would appreciate input on any other cheeses that are close to this one -- this is just the right amount of everything -- gaminess, aging, earthiness, dry, etc.
  8. Me neither, I'm a gonna have to put in an order for all three ASAP. (I think I might have Sing-Along Songs..., but it might be one of those that I listened to once and then buried and forgot about.) EDIT: physical copies of Stolen Babies doesn't exist on Amazon yet, will see if they're selling them at the show tomorrow, otherwise will wait and see for that one, perhaps order the other two earlier.
  9. And since they were under "related artists", catching up on Diablo Swing Orchestra -- Pandora's PiƱata and Sing-Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious. Unexpect, Fables of the Sleepless Empire, is up next.
  10. Stolen Babies, Naught -- via Spotify -- I forgot to pre-order it.
  11. Caught up on my fax subscription, bunch of Anthony Rother in there.
  12. Annie, Don't Stop -- poppy as shit.
  13. I understand the theory, but it's not entirely valid. You're basically trying to make a Faraday Cage with a hole in it at one end (which is not entirely invalid -- it will still attenuate the induced noise). Whether or not you want to connect the non-hole side on one end or the other is entirely up to you. There are other brands that do this. (Offhand, my Outlaws had the directional arrows.) But most do not, correct. As someone once told me, "last I heard, electricity flows both ways".
  14. (shudders) Yah. Don't ever do that again. And if you do have to, for much less time.
  15. Sweet, appreciated. Stickied.
  16. Liquid cooled!
  17. They forgot a lot of things: 46. A sun bed, to prevent (I has a) SADS. 47. A HEPA air filter 48. Prescription medicine 49. Distillery of some sort, or a brewery 50. A cat. Does not answer to "Boxxy", as a matter of fact, doesn't answer to anything. It's a cat. 51. A redhead 52. A brunette 53. Money (no place to spend it, but 10 years of income wouldn't be frowned at in 10 years) I'm curious about the choice of the porn star, Asian, and blonde -- would she be willing or unwilling? I don't think I'd want her if she was unwilling. But if she's a go-er...I don't think I'd even care if she didn't speak English. Also, why put specific people in at all, given # 39. Also, why consoles and no games, but movies do come with a Blu-Ray player? Yeah, not well thought out at all.
  18. Raveonettes, Observator
  19. I noticed the 30/21 error also, but was too busy laughing at "Shenanigans" to remember to post.
  20. Very nice pictures. I want you to do portrait shots of my cats.
  21. next time when you have more time, have your people tell my people, we'll do lunch
  22. Yeah, it's pretty loud, and your point is a good one. I do use headphones most of the time (in fact, back in the late 90's when I shared an office with a couple servers [not today-type servers, but just boosted up wintel machines with heavy duty fannage], that's how I got into closed headphones in the first place [went from a Sony MDR-V6/-7506 to a Beyerdynamic DT-770]). Your point is a good one -- it will be too loud for my taste, but it's only for that time between when it gets too warm after the a/c shuts off at 6 'til it gets cool enough again because of the ambient outside temperatures. Which is why I'm currently going with the Cube -- it's just not worth carrying more than that for just a little bit, and prettty soon it will be so cool that it won't ever be too warm to wear headphones. Which also makes me realize that carrying anything much bigger than a Cube (like the Equators) is complete overkill, so I won't. I've also been given a cubby away from the server as "spillover" (in other words, I don't have to use it). The downside is, it's in a shared office, so I'm really hesitant to use speakers when anyone else is around. Oh, and it's just 'Dusty' -- I actually do answer to that in real life.
  23. I've been listening to dub techno in the background all night. My cat has started plucking the chair backs. It's kind of like dub techno.
  24. It's like being outside -- it's bringing the outside in.
  25. I may seriously have to consider the Equator D5's -- they come with their own carry case and tilt-up stands, plus coaxial drivers.
