  1. And, they cost you less than an iPhone.
  2. Took my mom to Ikea, bought some Not lamps (yes they are!). That took most of the day. Putting them together == about 5 minutes each. I Ikea.
  3. [dusty]Pfff[/dusty]
  4. The purple crutch is what makes it for me.
  5. Got fingers crossed for Steve, Naaman...
  6. My current dream watch, the Bell & Ross BR03-92 Instrument Phantom Infiniti:
  7. I like this one
  8. Hey, it's better than the alternative. Oh...uh...(begins whistling, wanders off)
  9. That sucks, Steve. I sure hope that there aren't any other complications, if it is canine diabetes. Is there no such thing as emergency animal care? I've never needed it myself, so I honestly don't know.
  10. The whole point in imitating a recipe is to use it as a starting point for your own variations -- there is by no means any requirement to get it right for anyone who isn't eating it. Good job! I think the thing I want to imitate the most -- the one thing I like the most that I find the hardest to do -- is the caramelized onions.
  11. Getting...sleepy...
  12. OMG, that's hilarious, you have to listen to what the kid is saying, I think the la-la-la's are supposed to be onomatopeia to heighten the adrenalin of the viewer. Like subliminal messages, except overt.
  13. High Anxiety was wonderful. MBFTMFW,B!
  14. Apple-stles. Pronounced, "apple sauce".
  15. Project Pitchfork, Continuum Ride and later, Dream, Tiresias! I really need to find something like the last couple Haujobb albums.
  16. Kidneythieves, Trypt0fanatic
  17. Well...sure, twice zero is still zero.
  18. I agree with the blogger, the "sweaty" cheese is the most disgusting part:
  19. Marie Merrington (Merry Merry-ngton) is quite possibly the greatest stage name ever, especially for that era.
  20. Yeah, I doubt you'll find anyone influenced by Pink Floyd, and not "...also different in many ways..." And my point about worse influences -- I really like early Genesis, so when I heard Fish-era Marillion, it's like they had picked up right where early Genesis had left off. And when you get to be my age, you get tired of listening to the same albums over and over again, so even if you want something like that, you still want it to be not that. "Makes me feel the same" is a good way to say it.
  21. What is that, a double-double-double-double-double-double-double-double-double-double-double-double-double-...?
  22. I disagree entirely -- "like" is entirely too vague a word. I mean, you like Porcupine Tree, and they're "like" Pink Floyd, right? They're not a "rip-off", by any means (well, except that "Time Flies" is a deliberate rip-off of "Dogs"). I mean, I know what you mean -- certainly, if someone is a Pink Floyd tribute band, they're not bringing anything new to the party, but ... if I were to find a band whose single most audible influence is Pink Floyd, I can think of worse things to be influenced by. (I think we had this conversation the first time we met, so...sorry for repeating myself.) Oh: Legendary Pink Dots -- they're all over the place, stylistically, so you can't just pick one song, but try the two albums, Crushed Velvet Apocalypse and Maria Dimension and the track, "Premonition 13". I don't think they'll scare you.
  23. Not sure you'll find anything quite like Pink Floyd. But if you like the space-rock side (my personal favorite aspect of Pink Floyd), you need to investigate the whole space-rock scene, and some of the scenes it inspired, shoegaze and dream pop and to an extent, post-rock. Oh, and good krautrock rules. I love early Kraftwerk (and by early, I mean Organisation/Tone Float, 1, 2, and Ralf & Florian) -- your best bet is to start with side 2 of Autobahn and work backwards. I think you just decided what I'm going to listen to tomorrow.
