  1. I disagree entirely -- "like" is entirely too vague a word. I mean, you like Porcupine Tree, and they're "like" Pink Floyd, right? They're not a "rip-off", by any means (well, except that "Time Flies" is a deliberate rip-off of "Dogs"). I mean, I know what you mean -- certainly, if someone is a Pink Floyd tribute band, they're not bringing anything new to the party, but ... if I were to find a band whose single most audible influence is Pink Floyd, I can think of worse things to be influenced by. (I think we had this conversation the first time we met, so...sorry for repeating myself.) Oh: Legendary Pink Dots -- they're all over the place, stylistically, so you can't just pick one song, but try the two albums, Crushed Velvet Apocalypse and Maria Dimension and the track, "Premonition 13". I don't think they'll scare you.
  2. Not sure you'll find anything quite like Pink Floyd. But if you like the space-rock side (my personal favorite aspect of Pink Floyd), you need to investigate the whole space-rock scene, and some of the scenes it inspired, shoegaze and dream pop and to an extent, post-rock. Oh, and good krautrock rules. I love early Kraftwerk (and by early, I mean Organisation/Tone Float, 1, 2, and Ralf & Florian) -- your best bet is to start with side 2 of Autobahn and work backwards. I think you just decided what I'm going to listen to tomorrow.
  3. Actually, that is fairly simple -- they would discuss it. At length.

  9. I think you have that backwards -- if you buy your groceries at Wal-mart, Wal-mart wins. On the advanced search page, under search types, if you select "Posts", you should get posts, including multiple entries for one thread, if there were multiple posts that meet the criteria. There's no way -- visually -- to differentiate them from each other, but if you click on the actual search result, it'll take you to the different posts within that thread that meet the criteria. And they should be in reverse chronological order. Jack -- can I get a woman, hold the ether, with a side of strawberries?
  10. I did not have kids. Philip Larkin is awesome. Thanks for sharing that, I will memorize it and share it with my sisters.
  11. Wizard in training.
  12. Within Temptation -- various tracks. Was looking for the live version of Stand My Ground, but didn't know it. They do this cool thing in the live version that's subtle to the point of oblivion: they raise one of the riffs that's buried in the mix to the foreground. The riff is cool, too, because it's something I've wanted to do -- almost Nine Inch Nails-y, it's almost like a bent chord. Anyway, here it is: ...and while I was at it, I had to hear The Cross, probably my favorite track by them (and the live version exemplifies what a great singer she is -- she nails every note in both parts of the intro...as well as the rest of the song): YouTube - Within Temptation The Cross Live Black Symphony
  13. So if bi is 2, and we multiply by 3, we get six, so... Happy Sexa-day!
  14. I thought it might thin the bandwidth.
  15. Orphaned Land, Mabool -- metal hard rock with heavy middle-Eastern aspects, enjoying.
  16. Black + misplaced my Oyaide == I'm getting one. Also, they have a $5 version as well.
  17. Cop: So, what happened? Engineer: ...uh...uh...I missed my turn? Cop: ...(seriously? face)... Engineer: ...(innocent face)...
  18. I don't think so, no, it's much more mild.
  19. Dude (as an expletive). Visiting my mother is like being one-on-one with someone like that, only (a) she goes off on these religious rants, which I'm not; ( she goes off on these I miss <random dead person> rants -- and I don't handle death well. And then she tells me she doesn't like my clothing. So I talk about my cats. Cats are awesome. x2 on the get them together, but even better might be get her talking about the husband and his photography and cameras and whatnot.
  20. And also the symptoms, I.E. what happens when you drag'n'drop it? Remaining space on device? Size of file?
  21. (a) There's only 11 of them, and they're all sold; ( it's not a beer, it's a gimmick. MHO. © Admittedly, it's a gimmick that works -- I've already had one conversation with a complete stranger about it. And amongst my friends who know I'm into beer, it is the "talk of the town".
  22. 3xOMG. Alltheway.
