  3. Drank. Woke up to a phone call from my friend Dave saying, "let's go to DFH", went, came back, invited Justin over, and drank some more, logged on, going to bed shortly.
  4. Samuel L. Jackson would have shot me several times by now. What?
  5. Have you actually heard binaural recordings that aren't based on your own personal HRTF? They really aren't that bad, quite listenable, and quite (still) binaural.
  6. Need more speaker porn, less objecting.
  7. Am curious, have you ever listened to binaural recordings?
  8. Somewhere between a week ago and now, Dogfish Head has leapt into my own personal top 5. Between the beer tasting a week ago, when I pretty much enjoyed everything, to the immaculate conception of Bitches Brew, and the fine implementation of their Punkin Ale (also got a taste of their Burton Baton the other night, which was quite hoppy but also quite good), they are pretty much indisposable to me. (The others are, in no particular order: Left Hand, Bell's, Weyerbacher, and...uh...and...alright, maybe it's top 4, but I'm probably forgetting something...
  9. Wow. Just...wow. You just blew my mind.

It looks like a stage adaptation of Yoshimi (battles the Pink Robots)...maybe? Or maybe it's something else entirely. One of those two, definitely.
  11. More expensive than buying one from AT&T or Apple, and having someone you know unlock it for you, then back out of the plan? (This is a serious question, because I know backing out of the plan is quite expensive.)

Oooh, special limited time offer! Free eBooks What I'm saying is, I think you can find a lot of these free elsewhere, but...JIC I'm wrong...there ya go.
  17. Wait, where'd you see that? I only saw the white with a neon green cable. EDIT: Got it. [dilbertian]ooo[/dilbertian], black.
  18. Lamb Pumpkin Panang curry -- I love pumpkin season, as this is one of my favorite dishes from Pilin.
  19. Or, you could just buy stuff. ...I mean, for home audition, and then return it (if within the return period), or sell it off (otherwise). Really, sometimes, that's what it takes to decide on something as subtle as source/DACses. Buy it (preferably used, at a price that you can resell it for later), then give it a decent amount of listening time. Or you could just throw them in the closet and forget you had them later.
  20. I don't remember paying no $49.95, and I have access. I think. Don't use it all that much. (Obviously.) ...er, nope, they don't respond when I click "forgot mah password". EDIT #2: I have access, but not to the Golden Ears Club stuff, of which this is one. So you get a lot for free, you just get a little bit more for the $49.95, and -- I suspect -- sooner. I suspect the review will be made available for free in 9 months or so when it's obsolete, or something...
  21. That's true, and since they sound so good without external amplification, I think your take on it is probably more accurate. How could they possibly sound moar better? That said, the underlying question -- whether or not they are "worthy" of centering a home system around -- the answer is obviously, 'yes'. I don't think their nature (IEM) should be an influence -- that was just a design choice by the manufacturer, because he thought he could get better sound than from headphones or earspeakers.
  22. I actually kind of was answering your question -- I don't have a pair myself, but others have been jettisoning whole systems, but keeping the JH13. So I suspect the answer is, 'yes, they do scale well, and one would think, fairly high'. Based on zero experience, for the record. I see no problem centering a system around them, just because they're IEM's. They're very well designed IEM's, from everything I've gathered.
