Unless of course we're mixing for headphones because we expect our music to be listened to on headphones. A new recommendation then: give it a day to see if anyone comes in with the specific experience/comparison you desire, not everyone stays on the forum, some only check in once in a while. And if the one person who actually does have that comparison comes in and sees a long thread with a lot of arguing and crap, they're not going to post it anyway. EDIT: Or just buy a pair from a store that has a return policy, and decide for yourself. And then post your impressions here, so you can show us the sort of comparison you were expecting, show us how to do it right.

You don't think the Sony MDR-V6/-7506 would work better for that? And at a fraction of the price? And I think it's all 'hill' in the uppers, very little 'valley'.
-
I think 'hate' is overstating things -- there's one or two of us here that like them, but certainly not enough to do the comparison of which you're asking. In my case, yes, I did hate them, but I by no means speak for the forum -- just ask them. And to the latter -- no, no, just assholes, not deaf. You're welcome to prove them otherwise, but you're certainly not trending in that direction. And boomana -- to his defense, I am, indeed, an asshole, and that was, indeed, a quip. I'm alright with that.
-
To the first part -- that is more or less accurate, although people might quibble about the "more"; I think it ebbs and flows, myself. To the second part -- just log out. This is not the Hotel California.

Hey, at least we're honest. For the record (ahem) -- you actually did get your answer right here -- no-one's heard the PS1000 and the GS1000 with the knowledge of how many hours of burn-in they had.
-
I have a soft spot for recording professionals, so I'll give you a little help: (a) we're a snarky bunch, so we say stuff like that all the time, including to each other -- think of it as a cultural difference thing; ( pretty much everyone else here has what can only be considered the opposite of a soft spot for recording professionals, because most recording professionals that we've had experience with on the forums are assholes. So instead of trying to post your own brag sheet, tell us objectively what you think...I'll even get you started -- I have no idea how many hours were on the pair or two I've heard briefly, but my experience with them is that they have some bizarre frequency response with multiple peaks and valleys, almost like a roller coaster. I can see that, once you've gotten used to that bizarreness, they might be appealing, but by no means accurate. So (a) does your experience with them reflect mine? And: ( do the peaks and valleys go away with significant burn-in, or whut? I do believe in burn-in myself, but I am skeptical that they can transform the GS-1000 into anything other than what it is -- a very quirky, eccentric headphone that could appeal to only a fraction of all audiophiles.

Today appears to be "hard disk day" at Amazon GoldBox. All-day deal == Seagate 1.5T for $76; current hourly deal == Seagate 2T NAS $170.

Not sure why this is for me (other than the color scheme), but I really dig "My Body is a Cage". EDIT: Nevermind -- Devics lead singer. Didn't recognize her as a blonde. Gonna have to get the whole album.

Is it possible it just took that long to brainwash yourself into liking them?

Overheard this weekend: "I couldn't get an iPhone, so I'm going to go out and see Toy Story 3."

Capt. Ahab, The End of Irony -- "I Don't Have A Dick" might be my single of the year. Technopop.

Thank you, yes that.

So...why are you announcing it? Forewarned is forearmed, and all that. Are you that evil (and cocky confident), that you feel you can announce it, and still not be rendered useless by some sort of magical defense? Here's the thing: idiocy and slack...er...whatever the "state" form of 'slacker' is -- they are both contributing to the general decline of the human population, I.E. evil-ness, of the natural variety. They don't even have to organize, because of the second law of thermodynamics -- the very nature of idiocy and slackness (hey!) contributes to the total entropy of the socio-ecosystem.

Story of your life, neh?

So I'm sort-of in the market for a new speaker amp.

Having heard the Bryston in one of the best sounding systems I've ever heard, I'd say go with Bryston. -
Yeah, I looked for the bock -- I don't think it's out out, yet (I.E. major retail chains -- Total Wine, Wegmans, etc.).

You could also see how much you're thrashing, if you aren't, then that's not the problem. As Al said. -
Hurray! And: considering you paid for a new one, that's what you deserve. WRT fix vs. replace -- the idea being, if it was something simple, like the battery was in backwards. It wouldn't work then, right?

Favorite Music Lyrics (Read the Fucking Rules You Damn Philistines)

from both "Sentimental" and "Normal", in entirely different contexts (Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson) He also reuses the line, "I do a good impression of myself" from "Anesthetize": And: Porcupine Tree again, "Fear of a Blank Planet" -
Do we actually know anyone in Amsterdam? I mean, we should at least pick a town that we know someone in. And, of course, they would need to volunteer.
-
You want an empty? I have a half-drunken bottle that's probably flat by now -- I should pour it out.
-
I don't think Amsterdam was mentioned seriously. Berlin? Personally, I wouldn't mind London, but the chances of me showing are < 50%, so weight my input accordingly.
