  1. What's the hardest thing you've heard, Vicki, Sabbath?
  2. Fucking hell, Nate! Sure picked the wrong week to give up amphetamines, neh? Android's been fine for me so far, fanboi.
  3. If she doesn't, she just hasn't heard any she likes...yet. I would start her off with Peccatum, Lost in Reverie, myself.
  4. You know, our tastes are so disparate that I'm hesitant to say anything, but have you heard any of these, and if so, what do you think: Maquiladora (especially Ritual of Hearts and What the Day Was Dreaming)? Calexico (The Black Light and Hot Rail)? Black Heart Procession (esp. 3)? The Devics (If You Forget Me..., My Beautiful Sinking Ship, The Stars at Saint Andrea)? In The Nursery, Hindle Wakes (warning: pretty much nothing else they've done is anything like this, so don't even bother)? Sigur Ros, ()? Cocteau Twins (anything, but Treasure and Heaven or Las Vegas are good places to start)? Dead Can Dance (Toward the Within)? Camille (Le Fil)? Lhasa, The Living Road? Keith Jarrett, Sun Bear? Mike Oldfield, The Killing FIelds? I'm listening to If You Forget Me... right now, every once in a while, I go through a Devics mood where I have to play everything I have by them, repeatedly). I just can't imagine anyone not liking this, so I have to admit to not being very good at this. If you like funny lyrics, some of my favorites are: Crack the Sky (sardonic, jaded, sarcastic; try "Robots for Ronnie", "Lighten Up McGraw", "Too Cold to be Cool"); Steve Kilbey/The Church (literate; "Limbo"); Momus (clever/funny, "The History of Sexual Jealousy, parts 17-24)"; bawdy to the extreme, "The Penis Song"); Voltaire (silly, "Brains", "The Vampire Club"). I'd be curious what fraction of that is already familiar to you, not just the number, but which ones, and whether or not you like them.
  5. Just finished Perfume Tree, Feeler; just starting A Lifetime Away -- ugh, there are spots on the CD that are completely see-thru, I hope it plays okay. The music is great, of course.
  6. Now I want black & purple bacon.
  7. I'm wearing my Jayne Cobb hat today.
  8. tuna salad samich Indeed.
  9. It's too hot for pants. I got nuthin'. I weep for their beauty.
  10. Yeah, it was all the rage over here as well (at least in my circles). To throw things into the works (spanners, wieners, whatevers), I used to think that William S. Burroughs was the author, but since learned otherwise -- didn't actually learn her name, but could've googled it. So I just wrote, "...uh...er...someone" as a reference to that whole confusion. Hey, at least I knew that I didn't know.
  11. I wonder how warm it gets. I wonder what the rate of guns locking up is. I wonder...how much it is...
  12. Congrats, Duggeh, on having the wherewithall to realize that it was time to move on, and not to let 'momentum' carry you into that rut. To quote ...er... uh...someone: So don't worry about changing your mind -- it's expected. Oh, and me: finished cleaning my office, more or less. I did something on Sunday to throw my back out, so the boxes stay, but other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. It should suffice to keep the powers that be off my back for a while.
  13. OH, COME ON, I'M SUPPOSED TO LEAVE THAT ALONE?!?!?
  14. You know, it's weird, those almost look like they were mastered by two different people. 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 10, 11 are significantly worse than 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, and the others are somewhere between the two.
  15. Steak Bulgogi from Ricky's Rice Bowl. I am totally smitten with this place, I've taken to getting two large takeouts every weekend, eating 1/3 of each, and rewarming the remaining 2/3 of each for a total of 3 meals. And they are consistently ridiculously good.
  16. I'd give up.
  17. That just makes me sad. Dusty quote for the day: I know it says puncture 3-4 times, but 17-23 is so much more cathartic.
  18. Unless of course we're mixing for headphones because we expect our music to be listened to on headphones. A new recommendation then: give it a day to see if anyone comes in with the specific experience/comparison you desire, not everyone stays on the forum, some only check in once in a while. And if the one person who actually does have that comparison comes in and sees a long thread with a lot of arguing and crap, they're not going to post it anyway. EDIT: Or just buy a pair from a store that has a return policy, and decide for yourself. And then post your impressions here, so you can show us the sort of comparison you were expecting, show us how to do it right.
  19. You don't think the Sony MDR-V6/-7506 would work better for that? And at a fraction of the price? And I think it's all 'hill' in the uppers, very little 'valley'.
  20. I think 'hate' is overstating things -- there's one or two of us here that like them, but certainly not enough to do the comparison of which you're asking. In my case, yes, I did hate them, but I by no means speak for the forum -- just ask them. And to the latter -- no, no, just assholes, not deaf. You're welcome to prove them otherwise, but you're certainly not trending in that direction. And boomana -- to his defense, I am, indeed, an asshole, and that was, indeed, a quip. I'm alright with that.
  21. To the first part -- that is more or less accurate, although people might quibble about the "more"; I think it ebbs and flows, myself. To the second part -- just log out. This is not the Hotel California.
  22. Hey, at least we're honest. For the record (ahem) -- you actually did get your answer right here -- no-one's heard the PS1000 and the GS1000 with the knowledge of how many hours of burn-in they had.
