What about the old melodic stuff like The Birth of the Cool (Miles Davis) and Somethin' Else (Cannonball Adderley)? What about Cookin'/Steamin'/Walkin'/&c.? And yes, I did know that, had forgotten, I think we-all even had this exact same conversation before. What are you two talking about? Nate has probably the most varied tastes of anyone on this board, and that's coming from a contender.

To me, it's all about real estate. 13" == 1280x800 15" == 1440x900 ~= 27% more real estate, so I would throw that in your oven bag and shake it. Me, personally, I intend to get two -- one of the tiny Sony Vaio Lifestylers with the 1600x768 8" screen, and a huge HP dv8t with the full 1080p 18" screen.

I'm in for a pair, though I remain skeptical it's "L3000 awesome". If it's even 1/6 as awesome, it's still pretty fucking awesome.

The other thought is, don't run it off the external hard drive, use the internal -- load the files on the internal, then play (swapping out recently used and expected not to use again for a while files). I.E. Dew et, but do the above if you run into snags.
