  1. To answer my own question, the 32G at Costco are $490.
  2. Fine, wish I could say the same.
  3. This is news to me -- I've never heard the Melos have trouble driving anything. And it was Hirsch's choice of amp, so I trusted his judgment, since his horse in the race was the R10.
  4. Thanks, Mom, I'll keep that in mind. It'd be nice to know that everyone else at the meet was an adult as well, though. For the record, there's very little cyber-bullying at this site -- you may want to spin this as me vs. Aaron if you like, but I just get very sensitive about that sort of thing, so speak up about that particular offense a little more quickly than the other mods. He's one of the few offenders that I can recall that I've had to say anything to. Glad you're not going to be there, asshole. <-- see, smiley makes it all better, I just joking.
  5. Just for the record, we listened to both the R10 and the K501 out of a Melos this weekend, and Hirsch had this exactly backwards -- the R10 made the K501 sound like a bass monster. It was pretty night and day. The Melos should have had plenty of drive to drive both headphones.
  6. I don't approve of his cyber-bullying persona, and I actually think that my reaction was pretty low-key. Also, there's jesting-jesting, and there was what Aaron was doing -- did he really need to throw that in there in what was largely a serious discussion? I'll be the judge of that. And I'm glad you-all know so surely when he's kidding and when he's not -- I don't, and if I don't, others don't either. I won't be bringing any gear to the meet. You can thank Aaron for making me feel uncomfortable about it. That won't be happening.
  7. Sounds like a hardware issue (I.E. take the new memory out). Also, sometimes there's a way to configure the memory on some machines to ignore the bad memories. (I know my K2000 does this.) You might want to see if your machine does something like that.
  8. You're not a mod over here, there will be no openings of cans of whoop-ass on your part.
  9. But you've had restaurant salsa, before, haven't you? Specifically, Chevy's? I think this is better than Chevy's, which is a first (Chevy's was the best I'd ever had up until this one). And I'm not sure how much they cooked it -- it's not the pureed variety, it's ...actually, I think this is technically pico de gallo. I like this one better because it has a better attack -- you get its kick right away, it's not a delayed reaction, like it is with a lot of them. Otherwise, it's very similar (to Chevy's). Also, it seems fresher. I suspect they use local ingredients.
  10. I agree -- but this salsa came from the North side of the Baltimore beltway (Mari Luna Mexican Grill, before anyone asks) -- no way I'm going all the way there just for salsa -- plus, it wasn't cheap (US$14), so we're trying to savor it. Someone made the comment that it tasted better the second day, and I didn't think that was possible. Plus, it tasted just as good to me the second (and now third) day as it did the first. Sounds like I'm asking a bunch of people who wouldn't know. Still wouldn't mind hearing from someone who'd know, if you exist. And yes, Ken, I enjoyed the burn-in analogy. I don't believe they're milspec veggies, in fact, they seem quite garden variety, if you pardon the choice of words.
  11. Thanks for the review, I read it with interest as well.
  12. I think I have flats on mine.
  13. No, I mean 2nd day or 3rd day, and in the fridge, like ... you know how tomato-based pasta sauces taste better the longer you let the spices intermix with each other? Does salsa do the same thing, or is it better fresh?
  14. Pop-quiz to all you foodies -- salsa -- gets better with age or not?
  15. I don't know you, who is this, don't come here, I'm hanging up.
  16. Anyone know format? I presume DVD, but...that might be being presumptuous.
  17. Well, keep my cellphone number handy just in case of emergency.
  18. It's still funny.
  19. (laughs)
  20. Yeah, really, let's keep our fingers crossed that they don't fuck 'em up.
  21. What are the travel arrangements? Vicki will decide next week between me or renting a car; tyrion, guzziguy and morphsci are riding together? Or is Aaron/immtbiker helping anyone out with anything?
  22. yellow curry salmon from Pilin
  23. No, not really that much. I was actually kind of disappointed at the difference in price between a refurb Mini and a new one -- the refurb was slightly older technology -- basically, the price could probably have been attributed to the difference in speeds of the processors and maybe memory and disk space and not much more.
  24. You got time to raise your hands to defend yourself against being slapped upside the head with a stinky ol' trout? You got time to click through an extra page.
  25. Exactly -- we certainly don't want to read any of that shit. (points at the "Go Advanced" and "Preview Post" buttons)
