5v Regulated Supply?
Then I'd need an IEC inlet. That ups the no-tools complexity several fold, and the toroid is a whole lot closer to my DAC.

5v Regulated Supply?
Yep, that's way higher than it should be, and definitely pushing the absolute max USB current draw of 500mA. But you know what, this thread has got me thinking. If I used an external 9VAC plug pack I could easily fit an S25 in the same model enclosure as the Gamma 2. I would just have to tip the primary reservoir cap on its side, and be creative with securing the board with standoffs. It would make quite an attractive DAC stack.

No, I think better soldering technique is the usual solution Yeah, I don't think USB power is your only problem......

5v Regulated Supply?
Huh. Do you perhaps have a short somewhere that is bogging down the voltage? It seems common that people are getting shorts on the XO.

5v Regulated Supply?
Odd. My HP laptop and two HP docking stations all hit almost exactly 5V.

5v Regulated Supply?
I wouldn't be too concerned about that, considering the calibre of some of the people claiming massive differences

No, the S25 is a definite option.

USB audio issue
Nice. I could use this for a few tasks at work as well.

Power switch recommendation
The E24 can utilise dual colour switches, but not for power on/off. It is set up to change colour on an error condition; usually tripping of a thermistor. I set up my Buffalo DAC to change the colour of a dual LED switch when SPDIF lock is obtained. Definitely neat switches if you have a sensible way of triggering them.

Help with PDF Printer
I have no idea whether it can do what you want, but I use PDF Creator to make PDFs. At the very least, it might be worth investigating.

Its a good thing. Without lawyers getting rich from things like this, who would be buying high end audio?

Apple Tablet
That's a real shame. I'm not even remotely interested in an iPad or putative Courier, but competition would have been good.

Apple Tablet
Don't see why not. In the Pico that receiver chip converts USB to I2S, and in other designs like the Gamma1 it can convert to either SPDIF or I2S.
-
Apple Tablet
I think from the picture that the Pico is PCM270* USB interface, which is pretty standard with no drivers required under most O/S. Perhaps the other DACs tested have a different or less common USB interface?

I don't envy you, boomana. I always remember a friend of the family who was a mental health nurse when I was much younger. They used to constantly check that they were the one with the keys, just to help keep themselves sane...... And your aggression training sounds exactly like what police friends go through. Don't use the taser, don't use the baton, don't pull the gun, don't touch the bad guy - just bring them in on the strength of kind but firm words. Ridiculous! * Me? Same thing I've been doing every day this week. Trying to prepare a seminar for a very important conference, without having the final data yet. Goddamn research assistants - would be quicker to do the whole bloody thing myself

But I think you were absolutely right. I've never seen a FR graph so dead flat across such wide margins. Almost a complete absence of sudden peaks and dips.
