  1. They put supercomputers wherever they want. I even interviewed for a position on the red sea in Saudi Arabia...but that job wasn't worth the hassles involved. The one I'm running is going away at some point. It's replacement is in Fairmont, WV. I may or may not get that job, so I'm applying for every interesting sounding position I can find.
  2. airport express + anything works peachy.

no ones ever called me that before...
  4. Applied for a job in Morrisville, NC

It seems to me adjusting the range on the attenuator to match what need makes more sense than changing the gain on an amp that isn't readily set up for that.

I can't imagine a situation where I'd want to have a max attenuation of only 24dB on any amp.
  7. I replaced my topcase (keyboard) 3G on my MacBook but the new design fixed that problem.
  8. Applecare doesn't cover most of the things that make a laptop more at risk than a desktop...
  9. just finished sierra xXx, it was good. now some storm king
  10. I've never gotten applecare because 90% of what can go wrong I can fix. The cost is fairly high for what you get, and odds are good anything that will break will break in the first year. Things that break later are likely gonna be covered by a recall or easily fixable.
  11. victory storm king imperial stout
  12. yup, it's VERY sturdy, that's why I got it. I just then rarely used it because I preferred my crappy bag with more internal space (no backpack straps)
  13. I think the idea behind the perm-battery is it lets them have a larger battery, and removes potential failure points.
  14. alternate point of view: if you're going to use your laptop outside, I've never seen a laptop that will work worth a shit. For other regular use, the glossy macbook screen is fine, and most situations, the display looks great.
  15. eh, it's not bad exercise.

  18. If anyone's interested, I've got a travelpro briefcase/overnight carry-on with backpack straps I bought back when I was a road warrior but rarely used. I'm not really a backpack type, so it's spent most of it's life in my basement. Has a clever suspension pocket for laptops, and a decent amount of space.
  19. I think that was a great first post, honestly. Welcome, and I'm sure your Stax Mafia recruiter will be contacting you shortly. You were grandfathered in, but did inspire that clause
  20. You can get software to have the mac write to ntfs no problem. I found and installed it in under 5 minutes at danjam. I'm sure it hasn't gotten worse since then. Just search for "leopard ntfs" or something like that...
  21. ooh, schlaffly's in st louis? ok, maybe I WILL consider the jobs that are there...
