  1. pretty sure it was this one

  3. Thanks, all. Spent today finishing assignments and studying. Spent last night studying and sleeping, instead of going to the PT concert. Am not going to get a chance to get my (purple?) drank on until at least a week from now. Actually pretty much not until CJ. Some roofies and a liter of vodka... up my ass. What did I do to Stretch? Funny stuff.
  4. leggings and uggs
  5. Yeah, speaking of which. Decided to skip yesterday's concert due to the massive amount of work I have, my lack and thus need for sleep, and my friend bailing on me a couple days before. I hope you enjoyed it, Dusty.
  6. Found this a few days ago and can't stop looking at it. It's so me. I set it as my desktop wallpaper:
  7. That's really really funny to anyone who's watched DBZ.
  8. Happy birthday! And happy spread-your-love-of-headphones-in-the-crotch day, all!
  9. I was going to write a whole bunch of stuff, but it basically boils down to this: I wouldn't touch that with a ten meter long pole.
  10. What would you do with someone's testicle? SCIENCE, perhaps?
  11. You sure? Maybe I remembered wrong, then. As to vintage Stax and 'stats in general, I would take them over pretty much anything period.
  12. Heh, that's quite a harsh assessment. And on top of Colin's impression of them just being really woolly sounding, they really don't seem very appealing. Colin said my ET1000 was better sounding than the T1 even before he listened to it at the meet (actually I don't know that he ever did), but I'll try my best to tune it even better for when I bring it to CJ. At least Beyer can say it made a good sounding headphone at some point in its history, even if it was just in 1976. Skylab thinks Darth Beyers sound good. 'Nuff said.
  13. One would hope that would be the case. Anything particularly bad that stands out? Or is it all just kind of blah?
  14. Looks like a really fun night. I'd have to see a tribute band nailing Pink Floyd to believe it, but I'm glad it still lives on in some way. Speaking of which, been thinking about getting tickets for Roger Waters's The Wall concert tour in the fall. Do you think it'll be worth it/a good one? Tickets aren't exactly cheap but I have to buy soon before they run out. Congrats on the move, Colin. I'll miss living near you. But in some ways it's easier to get to where you live, since I can just take the bus.
  15. Thanks for the advice, guys. I didn't even think about the possibility of an enamel coating, will try the lighter method tomorrow. Yup I always use Kester 44 60/40 since it's the only thing I have, and in fact I think it is 0.031".
  16. Happy birthday!
  17. Congrats to both of y'all(s), Monkey and n_maher. Good gear is good.
  18. Cool way to "draw out" schematics
  19. That's one hardcore power supply right there
  20. Yeah, part of that difference is probably the different pricepoints, but I see what you mean. The pair of Maggies I was considering getting before the Acoustat Model 3s were some 2.5Rs, which apparently had to have the ribbons replaced every couple of years because it traded performance for durability (was really thin). I agree that I have been spoiled by the boxlessness and may never be able to go back. Still haven't heard any Maggies.... The 63 has the point source thingy! Way cool. Yay Monkey, which ones did you end up submitting an offer for?
  21. Forgot to mention that they don't tin at all by themselves. I was using some bare solid copper wire as a rod to solder the stranded wires to, and then I'd push the whole thing through the pins, which worked in the sense that the wires finally stuck to the rod. But didn't work in the sense that the wires are just too damn weak/brittle and snap off with the slightest movement in the wrong direction. As I type this, a spider is walking across the laptop. Yeah, I might need to just scrap this cable and steal a pro bias ribbon cable from one of my Lambdas to solder on. Annoying.
