Hehe, I can see how that would be a problem from lifting the shinai up above the head. Yeah, kiai is totally badass when done right. I actually find it similar to playing an instrument, with the extreme concentration, form/technique, and just plain practicing with a mirror a lot, needed to learn quickly. Funny stuff. Someone should ask you what model it is in hopes to get one for him/herself.

Taekwondo is pretty awesome too, I wish I could do a martial art on top of kendo but even kendo is pushing it in terms of time. I really don't have time for it, but if I don't do it now, I won't ever.

It probably wouldn't sound as good as a MG1.6 or whatever other good/decent planar speaker you can get for $1k. Unless you built something the size of the Kleinhorns or something, and used it nearfield.

I'm actually thinking about selling the K1k or most of my 'stats actually, as I realized real life might be more important. See Fair and Balanced thread for more info. I have too much cash tied up into headphones anyway, and having 5 foot tall speakers possibly gets me some sort of man points and makes up for having to sell stuff off.

Certainly costs a lot less, too. Running is fun, in a morbidly masochistic way. I like it.

Thinking about dipping my toes as well.... Since I really like torturing myself, vintage stuff, finding out how things work, and getting stuff for cheap, (and modding, I seem to do a lot of that), I'm thinking of picking up a MG-I Improved with tweeter kit for $100 on CG. Seem to be ~5 ohm tweeters and woofers nominal impedance so hopefully there are no or few dips below 4 ohms and I can try fiddling with the crossovers but don't know if it's worth it for such a vintage model in the first place. Opinions? No I haven't asked if the aluminum wires need to be redone, but I assume they do since the seller is including the kit.

I'm just not in a position to build a really complicated room heater for my 'stats right now and don't even listen to headphones often enough to warrant something like that. I got Vincent's O2 pads in the mail today and since the ESP10 is not yet ready for them I swapped the pads with the ones on my Concept CE-H. All I can say is BAAASSSSSSSS. Straight up DT-770/80 quantity bass, possibly even a bit more (Darth Beyer?), but somewhat better in quality. Not actually directly comparing the two, but I don't really care to anyway. It was just for fun and to see what would happen.

Oh yeah I remember that fiasco. And that on top of the Qualia thing, sorry to hear about your bad headphone purchasing experiences. HE60 out of a BH(SE) or KGSS is definitely on my shortlist of things I really want to hear.
