In this case, I think it's basically a Ref 3.5 minus etc. -- although those aren't out yet. They've made some changes to the tweeter, added outrigger stands and doubled the price of the floorstanders.

Going back to the prosaic and unlikely-to-cause-squishage end of the speaker spectrum... I really like the look of these as desktop or HT speakers. They're small(ish), slick (to me) and spec'ed to play down to 45Hz with some boundary reinforcement. The Gallo speakers I've heard in the past have also sounded superb -- the cylindrical diaphragm tweeter is a real treat. Al used to own some Reference 3.1s, I think, and will probably back me up on that. Nice little integrated desktop stand, too, it looks like.
