I had the d7000 for a bit. didn't really feel the need to have a grip. did try it with a grip but the whole thing got waaaay too bulky. with manual lenses that had an aperture ring, it was fun to just set the camera to aperture priority and be able to change iso on the fly with one of those control wheely contraptions. never really felt the need to fiddle around with other settings. but even with afs lenses the other wheel allows you to change the aperture. so wasn't bad at all. nice camera. a few from my recent trip to nyc/penn state for my sisters graduation. Getting out of Port Authority Terminal Walking a wee bit further Then someone turned off the colors Lunch with Colin After eating the burger I felt a slight amount of shame for betraying Le Tub A fine musician who, even for $10 and a free lunch, would not perform the epic sax guy riff. He had no clue what I was talking about so I pulled out my phone and showed him. He laughed and said his dead grand father would come back to life and whoop his butt if he even tried to play that nonsense. Then he went back to playing Coltrane. I heard you like taking pictures so I put a guy taking a picture in your picture so you can take a picture while he takes a picture Off to Penn State On the way to 33000 ft Waiting to get the diploma (to sister) aka $220000 piece of paper (to dad) Off to bigger and better things It seems like only yesterday we were fighting over her putting her finger in the air on my side of the room... -

xda1 was discontinued a long time ago. i am guessing they are just trying to offload whatever stock they have. doubt they will go back up to 250. i liked the all black unit. don't find the silver case as sexy.

i enjoy it quite immensely, still. i don't want to give any spoilers away and haven't read the books but yesterdays episode made me go wtf.

Hey Head-Case, what's your bandwidth like?
crappyjones123 replied to Knuckledragger's topic in Off Topic
every few weeks when the speeds drop below 1 mbit, i bitch and moan and in the 4 days it takes at&t to get it up to 2.6 mbit for 20 minutes and offer a $5 credit, i look for other options but none are available. ironically if we move like 3 miles in any direction, we can get a 15 mbit cable line for ~45/month. its capped but still. -
	Happy birthday sir.

uncapped connection means very little if you get 1.5 mbit down. its a legacy connection grandfathered in from apt to apt from 2000. back before all this capping nonsense started. -

You should be happy. We pay $65 + tax for a 3 mbit line. I say a silent prayer every time I can get a 2 mbit burst. -

Yesterday blew horse cock, to say the least. Woke up sick as hell to miserable weather. Got into the city pretty early and wasn't dressed for the wind/cold incessant rain throughout the day. Then some asshole shoved me into a street corner pole and trashed my new leica 50mm lens. Police officer looked at it and said it looked too shitty to be worth 2k and walked away. Today, I slept in a bit hoping to rest and try to kick whatever I am afflicted with. Met up with Colin for lunch at Jackson Hole which was quite pleasant. Caught the subway down to the World Trade Center which was a little underwhelming. No passes were available for the memorial so I wasn't able to go inside which was disappointing. Walked around the financial district for a bit and then continued on the bus tour I had purchased yesterday. Took me back north of Rockefeller Plaza and walked around there for a bit. Met up with parents at Times Square and then went to Grand Central Terminal to catch the subway back south to the Staten Island Ferry. Took the Ferry to and from Staten Island after walking about the terminal on the Staten Island side for bit. The fog was so thick, I couldn't see anything beyond a 200 feet. Things were fairly dead - either due to the weather (which seemed gloomy to me) or maybe it was just too early in the evening (8pm). Got to listen and watch some amazing musicians who were all told to leave the premises at some point or another, which was also unfortunate. There was one guy playing the drums on a plastic bucket and was varying the sound by holding it between his legs and raising them off the floor at different angles. Now back at dad's apt in NJ. Seem to have something going on under my right foot. Painful mass which isn't blistering. Just to the right of my big toe on the ball of my foot. Won't be home for a few days. Praying that it doesn't get any worse. Weather website said the sun was going to be out today. It lied. Only difference between today and yesterday was that it wasn't raining. Now off to bed. Leaving for Penn State to visit with my sister super early tomorrow morning. She graduates day after so have to help her pack and what not.

May 2/3 - NYC - Stuff to do? Places to visit?
crappyjones123 replied to crappyjones123's topic in Off Topic
Just got to my dad's place a little while ago. He got back from China day before yesterday after a month and a half. We didn't get to talk for long as he was already asleep when we arrived. Am not feeling well - allergies or smog or something is bothering the piss out of my throat and nose. Hopefully I'll be better tomorrow. However, I just got checked the grades and all A's so far. Only this morning's grade remains so quite pleased with the way the vacation has started. Couple of days walking around and then will head down to University Park to attend my sister's graduation. I will probably do the outdoors tomorrow. Day after the weather is supposed to be yucky so will probably take the buses/trains around to various museums, libraries, burger joints etc and keep things indoors. -

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sitting on my couch for the past hour waiting for our ride because my mom refuses to take a cab or park the car at te airport for a week. Excited but getting in late so don't know how early ill be able to get out tomorrow morning but I think I'll do the trail you suggested ari. Still need to figure out how to get home once I take the ferry to staten island. Probably just take it back and retrace my steps through other parts of manhattan. If a more efficient route is available im all ears. -
Extra credit - find a way to make the proofs converge onto a compact space (scantron). have fun Shelly. Good luck to all the dads.

...Things/Stuff/Places to photograph? I shall be in nyc on the 2nd and 3rd of May. There are all those bus tours one could take and absent suggestions I might just do that. However, if the locals feel my time might be better spent not doing that, I am open to suggestion. If anyone would like to walk around during the day or perhaps meet up for lunch let me know. Any company would be much appreciated. The last time I was in the city was in 3rd grade so I am looking forward to spending the 2 days walking around. Not into the whole club/bar scene (I don't drink or party). Will be at the mercy of public transportation for getting back to dad's apt in little ferry, nj so kindly suggest time appropriate activities/things to do.
