  1. While not a knife per say, my straight razor developed a chip when it fell in the sink a few days ago so I ran it over some sandpaper as per suggestions online. The chip is gone but it is now a really expensive butter knife. I've tried stropping for close to an hour with no results. Are there any local shops I could look for that could help me out with this?

  5. i dont know if i am imagining things or if i faintly remember naaman building a bitching car system from scratch for his truck...it was either something he built or something he linked to but i keep seeing his name in my head. other than that i know nothing about car systems. jh16? yeah they aren't safe to drive with but its not like you will be able to hear jack shit anyways if you crank it the car system to the levels you are talking about. would probably cost less to get custom iems, sound better, get more use out of them after you leave your car. also you could port them to the new car when you get one. fuck damnit, i want chocolate chip ice cream they use to sell in my hometown in india so bad right now. i dont know where the sudden urge came from but it was called bonanza and you would get it in a cup and you would eat it with a spoon. that shit was the best.

  7. Got fitted for contact lenses for the first time in my life. Wearing them right now. It is strange to have things in my periphery be sharp. 2 hours in with slight discomfort but I am very pleased with them. Everyone says I look goofier than I did before as most people see me for perhaps 5 minutes without my glasses. Focusing is almost like the autofocus on a fast af lens. Takes a split second to go from infinity focus to my book.

  9. Parents purchased our first home in America. Will be moving there after my mcat and I was thinking of a window ac in my room. I like it cold (64-67F) but the rest of the family likes it much warmer (76-80F) to where they probably won't need torun the ac but just the fan. Did any of the experiments yield a quiet ac unit? Would prefer an online purchase just bc it would be one less thing to arrange for prior to moving. Also how hard is it to install one of those things and to insulate the window well? Could I do it myself with help or would we need to hire someone?

  13. submitted my application to med schools last night. mcat on the 17th. then things will be out of my hands and in the admission committees. thanks to brent for looking over my personal statement last night. i would love more input so if you would like to give it a quick read and offer suggestions to polish it please let me know and i will send it your way. it is maybe 750 words so not a terribly long read.

  20. granted it is not the best way of making a brisket but given that is all I currently have access to, i was wondering how others get it to be juicy. I have had some really good brisket out of a crock pot in the past however that was at college friends' homes a long long time ago.
  21. A question for all the brisket masters out there. I tried making some for the first time yesterday in a crockpot. Cooked it on high for 30 minutes and then on low for 8 hours. Added salt, pepper, a steak rub, potatoes, onion, worcestershire sauce initially and a little bit of water when I read that water was needed to convert the collagen to gelatin after about 4 hours of cooking. The meat itself was a shade under a pound and about 3/4 of it had an 1/4" layer of fat. Cooked it fat side up. The final product looked excellent and was eaten with just a fork. It wasn't as juicy as I had hoped for it to be. It was also more tender on the end that had no fat above it. The part under the fat caps was dry and not as flavorful. What did I do wrong here? Not cook it for long enough? Not enough fat on top? Added water at the wrong time? Suggestions for how to fix the dry brisket issue? Bbq sauce added at the beginning of the cook?

  23. So she narrowed it down to her bosses perfume. 8 am meeting she started sneezing and felt a headache coming on. Left to lunch felt better immediately. Came back and went to bosses office and started sneezing immediately. This morning her boss came by to say hello and she said she started feeling like crap right after. Obviously she doesn't want to lose her job and after reading carls story i dont know if going to hr yet again will be prudent. Suggestions? I'm way too hot headed and love confrontation with figures of authority too much to give advice here.
